4. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
J!OO.VS" sealant is a high performance, modified latex gun grade
elastomer product designed to stop the passage of fire, smoke,
fumes, bacteria and water through fire rated separations. Jjoo,sTM
sealant forms an air and water tight bond with most common
construction materials in any combination including wood, concrete,
gypsum wallboard (GWB). steel, copper, aluminum and PVC or CPVC
jacketed electrical wires. 4100N5TM sealant produces a durable and
flexi:Ie seal after curing.
Features:
Adheres to dry or damp surfaces
Excellent joint movement capabilities
Priming not required
Non toxic. Safe, easy and economical to use and clean up.
Adheres to concrete, metal, wood and most common
construction materials
Provides an airlbacteria seal and a fireproof acoustic seal
Fully water and mildew resistant after surface curing.
Remains flexible and fully waterproof after curing.
5. USES:
When installed correctly within system designs recognized and tested
by a ICBO or SCC accredited agency. 4I00VST4,ill control the spread of
fire, smoke, fumes and water before, during and after exposure to open
flames up to 1000°C (1850°F) for as long as 2 hours. Primary sealing
applications include.
Openings with or without penetrations
Cable trays
Curtainwall expansion joints to 12"(300mm) width
Horizontal expansion joints to 12" (300mm) width
EMT and conduit
COMPATIBILITY DATA
4101J•5TM has been tested in our in house laboratories and is
compatible with all the listed types of metal and plastic pipe and
plastic coated wires.
LIMITATIONS
Dynamic joint movement in excess of 50%
Temperature before cure below 3°C (37°F)
Slower cure rates in cold or damp weather
Horizontal expansion joints exceeding 12° (300mm) width
Vertical expansion joints exceeding 4" (100mm) width
4109NS (Non Sagging)
FIRE AND SMOKE STOP SEALANT
INSTALLATION DATA
To install, remove standing water as well as excess dirt and dust. Install
mineral wool insulation at 4 to 6 lbs per cubic foot density, loose or blanket,
compressed a minimum of 25% to a minimum depth of 3 1/2" (87mm).
(Optional: For superior installation, fill mineral wool to full depth of the
penetration.) Apply 4/00.VSTM to a dry film sealant depth of 1/4" (6mm). Do
not install if the temperature with (24) hours of installation is expected to fall
below 3°C (37°F). 4100A'STMmust be installed in compliance with the tested
and listed system design. CAUTION: Mineral wool may cause eye, skin
and respiratory tract irritations. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing.
Recommend use of gloves and goggles. Refer to material safety data
sheet from insulation material supplier.
STORAGE, HANDLING AND FIRST AID
410oNSr.'i5hould not be stored in an area where the temperature exceeds
49°C (120°F) or falls below 3°C (37°F). Keep product stored under
protective cover in its original container. Products have a minimum shelf
life of (2) years and a stock rotation program is recommended.
FIRST AID: In case of contact with eyes, flush with water and consult a
physician. In case of contact with skin, clean with soap and water
thoroughly. Consult a physician if eye/skin irritation develops. See
MSDS for additional information.
AVAILABILITY
4100,VSTM5 available in:
10 US fl. oz. (300 mL) cartridges
30 US. fi. oz. (850 mL) cartridges
3.17 US Gallon (12 ltr) plastic pails
MAINTENANCE AND REPENETRATION
410OvSiM does not require maintenance after installation. If re-
penetration is necessary the seal can be Cut and the penetrating item
replaced. The seal can then be restored easily by applying a new layer of
sealant. 41001VST4 will form a full chemical bond and adhere to itself.

1. Penetrating Item: Centered or offset in hole, see table above. Single penetrations for steel pipes 6' (150mm) to 16" (400mm), up to 5
penetrations for steel pipe, conduit or electrical wiring 1" (25mm) or less in diameter, up to 3 penetrations for copper pipe when two are Va" (13mm) or less. Steel pipes over 8" (200mm) in diameter require ceramic fiber filler material (item 4).
a) Metal sleeve: Minimum 28 Ga or heavier metal sleeve fit tightly into the opening with a maximum annular space around sleeve to GWB of
1/4" (6mm). Metal sleeve used to support mineral wool filler material (item 4) within hollow cavities.
2. Floor/Ceiling or Wall Fire Separations:
1 and 2 hour ASTM E-i 19 or CAN/ULC Si 01 metal or wood framed fire rated gypsum wallboard (GWB) floor/ceiling/wall fire separations.
(Note all GWB assemblies require metal sleeves when using 4I0ONS)
Cast in place normal or light density concrete floor/ceiling assemblies having a minimum cross section thickness of 4 1/2"(11 2mm) or
C) Cast in place concrete wall assemblies having a minimum cross section thickness of 6" (150mm) or:
d) Hollow or concrete filled unit masonry (concrete block) wall assemblies laid up with mortar having a minimum cross section thickness of
8" (200mm).
Firestop System Component 1: Firestop Systems Inc. 4IOONS" (non-sag) for vertical or horizontal applications or 4100SL (self-leveling) for
horizontal applications. Each product must be installed at a minimum thickness of V." (6mm) or 5100SP" (mastic) for vertical or horizontal
applications sprayed into place with a minimum wet film thickness of 1/8" (3mm)( 120m11). Use 5100SP" only where the annular space does not exceed 2" (50mm). Always overlap 5100SP" on to the surface of the substrate a minimum of Y" (13mm). Do not thin 5100SP ffrestop mastic
when spraying. Use equipment capable of applying 5100SP" as supplied. On GWB and metal sleeve installations use only 4100NS at a
minimum film thickness of 1/4" (6mm).
Firestop System Component 2: Filler material, Mineral rock wool or ceramic fiber insulation with a minimum density of 4-6 PCF (68 kg/m3) compressed a minimum of 25% into the annular space at a minimum depth of 31/2" (88mm). Recess filler material 1/4 (6mm) for 4100 series sealant placement. For 5100SP" applications do not recess filler material. On steel pipes over 8" (200mm) use ceramic fiber insulation filler
material only. On GWB and metal sleeve installations fill to full depth of sleeve allowing 1/4" (6mm) for sealant placement on each side.
