Because the room could not accommodate spill control, we proposed possibly a water mist system or low water foam. It turns out they are both >$300,000 for a 2000 sq ft room. So I have been suggesting possibly using these automated spill control systems I have recommended on several projects in the past. It is the system that will automatically provide a sealed sill upon actuation of the sprinkler system. Do you have time next week for me to show you the system and see if this would be acceptable to the fire department? I can probably send-you the information in advance for you to look at once I know which company/brand they are going with. 11 Thanks Elley KiAUBRUCcNR AND ASQCATE5 ELLEY KLAIJSSRUCKNER KLAUSBRLJCKNER & ASSOCIATES INC. 4105 SORRENTO VALLEY BLVD. Spills or contaminates of low volumes and any foam material also trigger the Containment Barrier. The Spill Barrier is installed on the floor surface, usually no modifications to the floor surface are required. This has the advantage that no hazardous material such as resins will clog or harden in floor sumps and prevent the barrier from being triggered. Furthermore, small amounts of hazardous materials or vapours are not being collected or trapped which may pose a ignition danger. The Containment Barrier BLIBED-PM is fitted with an acoustic warning signal. With an upgrade package, a closing stop and visual warning light, as per the German VDS Guideline 2564, can be integrated. Equipped with a solenoid for Ex - Atmospheres, according to ATEX 95/137 and to USA NEC 500 and USA NEC 505, the Spill Barrier BLIBED-PM can be installed in the following Zones: 0, 1, 2, 20, 21, 22 classified by the EU orUSA, Class I Division 1, Class I Division 2, Class 2 Division 1, Class 2 Division 2, Class I Zone 0, Class I Zone 1, Class I Zone 2. The Spill Barrier body and mounting fixtures are powder coated, preferably in "signal red" RAL 3020. The remaining metal components are galvanized or aluminium. Usually a Rittal housing is used. The units main input is 1 1OV/60Hz max 1OA or 230V/50Hz max 1OA pre fuse. The unit is designed to take 3 normally closed contacts, which are classified as S100, main contact from fire control system, 24VDC max 4A, S101 reserve 24VDC max 4A, S102 reserve 24VDC max 4A. (3x1mm2) The E-Box relays and transforms the input signal or signal's from the fire control switch board or a leakage detector to a permanent 24V signal. This signal is applied to the 24VDC solenoid valve in the pneumatic control unit. Once the unit receives a command from the from the fire control system, it will then drop the permanent connection to the solenoid. This will then trigger the pneumatic barrier. The system is designed to be failsafe. Should the permanent 24V signal to the pneumatic control unit be interrupted, e.g. through a power failure, this will initiate the barrier. The electric control unit does not provide or handles any feedback signals from when the barriers are closed. The unit is designed to manage various input signals and put these forward to the pneumatic operated barrier. FEAS power back up. (if provided) This back up provides the power for the electronic control unit for up to 2 —3 hours. If not in use, the power back up is being recharged. This system is suitable for crack-free surfaces with up to 0.8 inch (± 0.4 inch) of floor/ground unevenness, e.g. concrete, corrugated sheet metal, tiles, stones, etc. The Spill Barrier is comprised of a trapezoidal, integral hollow aluminium profiled body with a compressible, highly adaptable seal affixed to the lower side and end faces. The seal is chemical resistant and fire retardant according to DIN 4102-BI (not easy flammable). The rotating mount and tensioning lever mount are securely fixed next to the opening to be sealed. The baffler body is firmly bolted into the hinge. In stand by, the baffler stands vertically and is protected against Article root number: 031 being closed unintentionally. This is in line with German UW accident prevention guidelines. To close, the locking pin is removed and the Retention Baffler is lowered manually. The Spill Baffler is locked into place with a heavy duty lever. The contact pressure of the baffler is adjustable using the tensioning device. With certain lengths and heights, closure of the baffler is counterbalanced with weights. Gas-charged springs are standard for small and medium-size bafflers. Hand cranks in combination with gas-charged springs are used for large bafflers. Baffler bodies and mounting fixtures are furnished with a red paint finish, preferably "traffic red" RAL 3020. Risk Management for commercial ... Page 1 of 1 (#VIROiVMH1 TA! ENGINEERING BLOBEL Spill Barrier BUST passes the real fire test! The manual BLOBEL Spill Barrier BUST installed at a facility in Europe was put to the test by a real fire. The manual Doorway Spill Barrier implemented performed as expected and contained any contaminated fire fighting water and sprinkler water run-off within the facility. The Spill Barrier BUST and the seal withstood the heat generated by the fire with ease. Even though the facility was damaged by the fire beyond repair, the BLOBEL Spill Barrier sustained very little damage. Key is the quality of material used by BLOBEL and the sealing technology implemented. Where lager Spill Barriers heights are concerned, aluminium panels are welded not bonded. Sealing material used is based on a special, highly flexible foam material. BLOBEL Spill Barrier seals are chemical resistant and fire retardant according to DIN 4102-B?. The manual and automatic Spill Barriers can accommodate floor unevenness up to 20mm. BLOBEL Spill Barriers are design tested by the LGA Germany and have gone though and passed praxis oriented fire testing with the IDF Germany. http://blobe1.de/ehtm1/BLOBEL-Spil1-Barrier-BL-ST-passesthereal..firetesthtml 03/30/2011 blobel Page 1 of 1 http:/iblobel.de/navie.html 03/30/2011 Klick her to se BLOBEL - BL-BDD-PM Automatic Doorway Spill Barrier and Retention Barrier for low...
