The law has an exemption that allows a person who is not a California Licensed Contractor to construct a single-family residential structure and engage in home improvements and repairs, provided they meet certain requirements. {Form B-61 provides information about the requirements that apply to Owner-Builders makes you aware of your responsibilities and possible risk you may incur by having a permit issued to an Owner-Builder.)
