Code, Uniform Plumbing Code, Uniform Mechanical Code, National Electrical Code and state
laws regulating energy conservation, noise attenuation and disabled access. This plan review

based on laws and ordinances enforced by the Planning Department, Engineering Department

ELECTRICAL (2013 CALIFORNIA ELECTRICAL CODE)
1. "Arc-fault protection is required for DC circuits per CEC 690.11 . Document how this
protection is provided with your photovoltaic design."
2. Please provide a statement on the Title Sheet of the plans to show compliance with the
current Codes. The following are the correct current Codes:
a. The 2013 edition of the California Building Code (CBC) adopts the 2012
International Building Code (IBC) and the 2012 International Residential Code
(IRC).
b. The 2013 edition of the California Electrical Code (CEC) adopts the 2011 National
Electrical Code (NEC) and the 2012 California Amendments.
c. The 2013 edition of the California Mechanical Code (CMC) adopts the 2012
Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC) and the 2012 California Amendments.
d. The 2013 edition of the California Plumbing Code (CPC) adopts the 2012 Uniform
Plumbing Code (UPC) and the 2012 California Amendments.
e. The 2010 edition of the California Energy Efficiency Standards
3. Please revise the section numbers and notes on the plans to match the 2013 CBC and
2010 CEC , as adopted by California.
4 . The following design loads shall be clearly indicated on the construction documents.
5. Wind load. The following information should be provided:
*Basic Wind speed (3-second gust), 110 mph
*Wind exposure shall be determined by the engineer.
6. Please demonstrate compliance with the fire access and pathways setback requirements
under section 3111.4 of the 2013 residential CBC. Show setback dimensions on plans.
There should be a minimum of 36" clear from the roof ridge. Also, a minimum of 36"
clear from at least one side of the edge down. There should be at least 18" from edge of
the modules to any roof edge/ valley or hip. When there is modules on both sides of the
valley then 18" clear should be provided on both sides of the valley to the edge of the
nearest module. Do not install junction boxes or any obstacles in the above clear fire
department passageways.
7. Provide a minimum of# ground electrode conductor for the DC system from inverter to
the service. One portion is shown with #10. CEC 250.166
