A3. Revise sheet 1110, address the following:
a) Please revise occupant loads calculations for the storage rooms, bathrooms, hallways, etc. Per the
definition in Chapter 2 of the CBC of Gross and Net Floor Area, unoccupied spaces only apply to areas in
Table 1004.5 which have an occupant load based on Net area. The restrooms, elevators, stairs, and
other areas serving the business area need to be included in the Gross Area used to determine the
occupant load.
AOR Response: The occupancy calculation has been revised to comply with Chapter 2 of the CBC of
Gross and Net Floor Area . Revised occupancy of full floor is 297 occupants. A revised occupancy/egress
plan and revised occupancy calculations have been included on sheet All0. Room Names have been
added for clarity.
b) Please fix Text overlap on sheet.
FIXTVRES REQI.HRED 2022 (BASED ON CPC TASI.E 422. 1)
AOR Response: Overlap has been corrected. Toilet calculation has been revised to reflect actual floor occupancy per
revised toilet occupancy calculation. An additional sing le-user toilet has been added to the scope to meet requirements.
Refer to revised toilet calculation and summary, sheet All0.

AOR Response: In lieu of rating the entire existing corridor, a new rated door and wall have been added adjacent to Stair #1
to provide the required fire-rated enclosure at the lobby from stair 1. An additional exit sign has been added to clarify the

SCALE: 1 112· • 1'--0"
AOR Response: Partition Type C-2 is not meant to be fire-rated. It is a SCIF security partition rather than a fire-rated
partition. The partition plan graphic wall representation has been revised at partition type C-2 so that it does not resemble the
rated partition wall pattern. Partition type "UL" has been added to the partition types (UL#U419 1 Hour Rated Partition), sheet
1510, and keyed on the partition plan, sheet 1120. This new partition occurs between classroom 1.002 and lobby 1.001 and
between hall 1.005 and lobby 1.001 only. See also response to item A6 below.
A3. Sheet 1610:
a) Door 1.001 1.004, 1.007,1.025, 1.026, and 1.040 are openings in fire-rated assembly. Revise door to be 45-
minute fire-rated. CBC 716.1(2)
AOR Response: Refer to response to comment A4 and A2 above. Fire rated assemblies occur at hall 1.003
and lobby 1.001 only. A new 45 min fire-rated door that encloses the rated lobby (between rooms 1.001 and
1.005) has been added to the partition plan, sheet A120, and to the door schedule, sheet A610. Door 1.007
has been removed. Doors 1.040 and 1.073 hold a 45 min fire-rating. Doors 1.004, 1.025 and 1.026 do not
require fire-rated doors.
b) Clarify providing 45-minute rated doors at areas without a 1-Hr fire rated walls.

A7. On roof plans, address the following:
a) Dimension the mechanical units from roof edge, provide guards where mechanical units are within

AOR Response: New sheet A160 Roof Plan has been added to the set. Dimensions to parapet wall have been added
to all new equipment located on the roof.
a) Note: Roof mounted equipment must be screened and roof penetrations should be minimized. City Policy 80-6

-Angles are measured up from the horizontal line in the diagram above through the center of the unit (0 deg = right, 90 deg = up).
-Attachment to concrete or masonry shall use Omega unless governed by a ductile shear or tensile failure.
-If equ ipment is mounted on vibration isolators with the clearance from equipment to frame> 0.25 inch use 2Fp (double Sds)
-Lx is the distance to the farthest anchor measured perpendicularly from the angled line of rotation.

CLIMATE ACTION PLAN
CONSISTENCY CHECKLIST
B-50
Development Services
Building Division
1635 Faraday Avenue
442-339-2719
www.carlsbadca.gov
This checklist is intended to help bullding permit applicants identify which Climate Action Plan (CAP) ordinance requirements
apply to their project. This completed checklist (8·50) and summary (B-55) must be included with the building pennit
application . The Carlsbad Municipal Code (CMC) can be referenced during completion of this document.
NOTE: The following type of permits are not required to fill out this form
❖ Patio I ❖ Decks I ❖ PME (w/o panel upgrade) I ❖ Pool
The B-50 checklist was originally developed several years ago to support implementation of the CAP. Recent updates to
the California Building Standards Code have imposed newer performance standards on building permit applications.
Therefore, the applicant is advised to review all applicable code sections and apply the maximum performance standard,
which may exceed the CAP consistency checklist requirements
Consultation with a certified Energy Consultant is encouraged to assist in filling out this document. Appropriate
certification includes, but is not limited to: Licensed, practicing Architect, Engineer, or Contractor familiar with Energy
compliance, IECC/HERS Compliance Specialist, ICC GB Energy Code Specialist, RESNET HERS rater certified, certified
ICC Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner, ICC Commercial Energy Inspector and/or Plans Examiner, ICC CALgreen
Inspector/Plans Examiner, or Green Building Residential Plan Examiner.
If an item in the checklist is deemed to be not applicable to a project, or is less than the minimum required by ordinance,
check N/A and provide an explanation or code section describing the exception.
The project plans must show all details as stated in the applicable Carlsbad Municipal Code (CMC) and/or Energy Code and
Green Code sections.

It may be necessary to supplement the completed checklist with supporting materials, calculations or certifications, to demonstrate full compliance with
CAP ordinance requirements. For example, projects lhal propose or require a performance approach to comply with energy-related measures will need
to attach to this checklist separate calculations and documentation as specified by the ordinances.

An approved Transportation Demand Management (TOM) Plan is required for all nonresidential projects that meet a threshold of employee-generated ADT.
City staff will use the table below based on your submitted plans to determine whether your permit requires a TDM plan. If TDM is applicable to
your permit, staff will contact the applicant to develop a site-specific TOM plan based on the permit details.
