Executive Summary The board will receive information on the Literacy Anthology and an invitation to the “Waves of Inspiration” book release and book signing event to be held Saturday, May 3, 5:00- 7:00 pm. “Waves of Inspiration” is a year-long project, collecting the stories and poems of learners in the Carlsbad City Library Literacy program. The event will feature learner authors reading excerpts from their work in the Schulman Auditorium, followed by a book signing, dinner and live music in the Ann Kulchin Courtyard. The design and printing of the anthology, along with the celebration, are all provided by a literacy grant from the California State Library. Explanation & Analysis None. Fiscal Analysis No financial impact. Next Steps None. Environmental Evaluation The proposed action is not a “project” as defined by CEQA Section 21065 and CEQA Guidelines Section 15378(b)(5) and does not require environment review under CEQA Guidelines Section 15060(c)(3) and 15061(b)(3), because the proposed action to report on the Literacy Anthology LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES April 23, 2025 Item #3 Page 2 of 2 is an organizational or administrative government activity that does not involve any commitment to any specific project which may result in a potentially significant physical impact on the environment. Any subsequent action or direction stemming from the proposed action may require preparation of an environmental document in accordance with CEQA or CEQA Guidelines. Exhibits None.
