APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes of the Special Meeting held on Jan . 23, 2025, were approved as presented -4/0/1 (Schreibman -Abstain) CONSENT CALENDAR: None. PUBLIC HEARING: None. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS: 1. THIRD GRADE ART CONTEST: Information regarding the status of the Third Grade Art contest. (Staff contact: Mike Strong, Community Development Department) Recommended Action: Receive informational report. The Commission received the report. 2. APPROVAL OF THE FISCAL YEAR 2025-2026 WORK PLAN. Adoption of a resolution recommending approval of the fiscal year 2025-2026 Historic Preservation Commission Work Plan . (Staff contact: Mike Strong, Community Development Department) Recommended Action: Adopt a resolution to recommend City Council approval of the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Work Plan. Commissioner Schreibman and Commissioner Jacobs recommended more direct involvement with the Carlsbad Historic Society and suggested collaboration on activities with the Carlsbad Historical Society. Commissioner Diaz suggested that the Historic Preservation Commission send an Historic Preservation Liaison to Carlsbad Historical Society meetings. Commissioner Schreibman made the motion, seconded by Commissioner Diaz, to approve Historic Preservation Resolution No. 2025-005, with adding a work plan task to coordinate preservation efforts with the Carlsbad Historical Society and consider designating a member of the Historical Preservation Commission to serve as a liaison with the Carlsbad Historical Society Motion passed, 5/0. March 10, 2025 Historic Preservation Commission Regular Meeting Page 2 Adopt Historic Preservation Resolution No. 2025-005, with the condition that a member of the Historical Preservation Commission liaison with the Carlsbad Historical Society be added 5/0. COMMISSION COMMENTARY AND REQUESTS FOR CONSIDERATION OF MATTERS Reports on activities and meetings of some committees and subcommittees of which they are members. Planning Commissioner, Ex Officio Lafferty reported that she attended the 2025 Planning Commissioners Academy March 5-7, 2025, and shared an overview of the information she reviewed and learned at the Conference.
