Subject: Website Update Status – Historic Preservation Program
Recommended Action
Receive report and provide direction as needed.
Discussion
On Nov. 13, 2024, the Historic Preservation Commission created an ad-hoc subcommittee
charged with developing recommendations to update the city’s historic preservation website to
meet increasing expectations and a growing reliance on digital access. The Historic Preservation
Commission appointed two commissioners (John May and Patricia Schreibman) to assist staff in
this effort. Over the past 18 months, city staff met with the subcommittee and researched best
practices and sorted through existing online tools to develop a strategy for implementation.
At its May 12, 2025 meeting, city staff will present an overview of subcommittee input and
summarize efforts currently underway to address their initial feedback. The subcommittee will
submit its final report and walk through the updated website at the next Historic Preservation
Committee meeting.
This item is included in the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 Work Plans.
Fiscal Analysis
There is no direct fiscal impact associated with receiving this informational report.
Environmental Evaluation (CEQA)
The proposed action is not a “project” as defined by CEQA Section 21065 and CEQA Guidelines
Section 15378(b)(5) and does not require environment review under CEQA Guidelines Section
15060(c)(3) and 15061(b)(3), because website development is an organizational or
administrative government activity that does not involve any commitment to any specific
project which may result in a potentially significant physical impact on the environment.
Exhibits
None.
