Transmitted herewith are plans for proposed foundation repairs, to attempt to mitigate continued
settlement of the existing foundation and to further prevent resulting structural damage.
Esgil Corporation cannot offer any guarantees that the proposed system will resolve the present
problems, nor should the City offer such representation. However, acceptance of the proposed
remedies may result in an enhanced foundation support system from the current situation.
At the time of permit issuance, the following should be noted on the plans: "Prior to th e City building
inspector approving final inspection , the responsible design professional shall notify the building
official, in writing, that the proposed foundation repairs have been installed in accordance with the
design".

' Subject: Site Inspection Report for the Subject Property Located at t;o 1 Via Sorbete,
Carlsbad, CA 92010
To City of Carlsbad Building Division:
The purpose of our investigation was to identify any geotechnical/structural issues that
may exist at the subject property and to make engineering recommendations regarding the cause
of the damage to the perimeter footing.
f The residence located at 2f01 Via Sorbete, Carlsbad, CA has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and
is approximately 1,104 square feet. The property is part of a planned community that was built in
1978. A registered civil engineer from our firm inspected this residence on April 11 , 2016 and
noted the following:
1. The residence is a single story, wood framed structure supported by a slab on grade
foundation system.
2. The residence is part of a condominium complex and is a corner unit. The east wall is a
shared load bearing wall with the adjacent neighbor.
3. Units to the east of the subject property are two stories, while the subject property is a
single story
4. A stable slope, with a concrete lined drainage ditch is located to the west and south of the
property.
5. Multiple stucco cracks were noted along the exterior.
6. Multiple slab cracks were noted. The slab crack is linear and appears to be a cold joint.

CONCLUSIONS
1. The cause of the damage to the residence foundation system is historic soil creep. Based
upon the good condition of the west and south slopes we feel that the potential for further
movement of the condo unit is low.
