FO-SUB-PVC-40 (5-28-14) CUSTOM PIPE & COUPLING INC. FLANGED DUCTILE IRON PIPE Ductile iron pipe is commonly fabricated for use as interior process piping in water and sewage treatment facilities and has been covered by ANSI standards since 1926. Under direction of Committee A/21 of AWWA, this standard is subject to periodic review and is updated to include fabricator practices reflecting current usage in the industry. Flanged ductile iron pipe is fabricated by means of threading the pipe and attaching threaded companion flanges in accordance with ANSI/AWWA Cl15/A21.15. Taper pipe threads in accordance with ANSI B2.1 table 15.1 and 152 of above standard. Machine tightened flanges and pipe ends shall be faced after fabrication. Length, weight and fabrication mark, (if other than flange manufacturer) must appear on each piece of fabricated pipe. Reprinted w/Permlaslon NAPF Standard #301 CPC (I1-99) CUSTOM PIPE & COUPLING INC. FLANGES Class 125 Flanges Standard flanges are plain-faced without projection or raised faces and are furnished smooth or with shallow serrations (re: table 15.3 ANSI/AWWA C115/A21. 15). Either ductile-iron or gray-iron flanges may be used unless otherwise specified by the owner. Flanges shall conform to the respective chemical and physical properties specified for gray-iron and ductile iron fittings in ANSI/AWWA Cl 1O/A21. 10, Standard for Ductile-Iron and Gray-Iron Fittings, 3 in. through 54 in,, for Water and Other Liquids. Flanges are to be adequately marked as C. I. or D. I., Class Rating, Manufacturer or Fabricator's mark if different from manufacturer. These flanges are adequate for water service of 250 psi working pressure. Bolt circle and bolt holes can be joined with Class 125 ANSI B16.1 or Class 150 ANSI B 16.5 flanges. However, these flanges cannot be joined with Class 250 ANSI B 16.1 flanges, flanged fittings and valves. Class 250 Flanges These flanges as shown in ANSI B 16.1 are larger, thicker and possess different bolt circles and may have more bolt holes. They cannot be joined to Class 125 flanges. MISC J ONES] R] General Information J-975 and J-979 For Asbestos Cement Pipe, Cast Iron Pipe, Ductile Iron Pipe or Steel Pipe. Jones bronze saddles are available in single and double strap. The saddles are cast from 85-5-5-5 waterworks bronze. They are specified by Jones number J-975 (Single Strap) or J-979 (Double Strap). When ordering please specify single or double strap, type and size of pipe, and type of thread, CC or IP. Straps are silicon bronze and are secured with bronze nuts. J-995 Special Design for Steel Pipe O.D. to be used on Steel Size PVC Pipe Only. Available in sizes 211 to 8" with taps 3/4" to 2". Please specify CC or IP tap. J-996 Special Design for C-900 Cast Iron Size PVC Pipe Only. Available in sizes 4" to 12" with taps 3/4" to 2-1/2" IP. Please specify CC or IP tap. This two-piece design affords simplicity and speed of installation and offers maximum support around the entire pipe. Wide, solid band allows distribution of pressure over wide areas. The Buna-N 0-Ring is glued into a groove that is cast into the saddle. This 0-Ring forms a seal on the pipe surface when tightened. When pressurizing plastic pipe there is a possibility of pipe expansion. Caution should be taken for proper tightening. It is suggested that users tighten to 15 to 18 ft. lbs. oftorque on 4" to 8" saddles, and 10" to 12" saddles use 25 to 35 ft. lbs. Keep even space between top and bottom section of saddle on each side. Be sure saddle is pulled down evenly so the 0-Ring seals properly. J-965orJ-969 Designed for C-900 Plastic Pipe. Available in single and double strap. Straps are stainless steel. Top section is Cast Bronze 85-5-5-5. Torque to installation instructions attached to saddle.
