JM/wh 'I ANSUL 1nW?n. Description Electrical actuation of a CV-98 INERGEN valve is accom- plished by a CV-98 electric actuator interfaced through an ALITOPULSE Control System. This actuator can be used in hazardous environments where the ambient temperature range is between 0 OF to 130 OF (-18 °C to 54 °C). The electric actuator meets the requirements of N.E.C. Class I, Div. 1, Groups B, C, 0 and Class II, Div. 1, Groups E, F, G. A maximum of two CV-98 electric actuators can be used on a single AUTOPULSE release circuit. When using either one or two CV-98 electric actuators, an in-line resistor, Part No. 426001, must always be used. The actuator specifications are: Nominal Voltage 24 VDC @ 1.5 amps In auxiliary or override applications, a manual cable pull actuator can be installed on top of the CV-98 electric actuator by removing the safety cap. The actuator contains a standard 1/2 in. threaded female straight connector for electrical conduit hookup. The CV-98 electric actuator uses a replaceable METRON® PROTRACTOR which is a device designed to produce a high force mechanical output. The actuator is electrically actuated and will operate within milliseconds. The METRON PROTRACTOR must be replaced after discharge of the INERGEN system. Detection and Control Components -SIH-24F Ionization Smoke Detector Features MOUNTING DIMENSIONS - HSB-21 AND HSB-220 BASE Dual chambers for stable sensitivity Stainless steel screen for chamber protection Low supervising current Bifurcated contact reliability Tamper-resistant, twist-lock head Applications The SlH-24F Ionization Smoke Detectors are intended for use in commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. The detectors are placed primarily in clean, indoor environments where early warning fire detection is required. The detectors are used in combination with an Ansul AUTOPULSE® Control System and an Ansul fire suppres- sion system for automatic detection, alarm, equipment con- trol, and fire suppression system release capabilities. The SIH-24F detector includes a built-in LED which blinks approximately once each second to indicate the head is powered. This LED also lights continuously when the detec- tor is in alarm, latching on, and remaining lit until the detector is reset. The design of the detectors allows use in a wide range of humidities, temperatures, and air velocities. Description The SlH-24F Ionization Smoke Detector has two chambers: an outer sampling chamber and an inner balance chamber. Smoke or invisible combustion gases can freely penetrate the outer chamber, but the inner chamber is virtually closed to prevent easy entry. With both chambers ionized by a single radioactive source, a very small current flows. The presence of visible smoke or invisible gases have a great influence upon the current flow in the outer chamber, causing a change in the voltage ratio between the chambers. This diP' ference is then amplified inside the detector and when it becomes great enough, causes the detector to go into alarm. The LED indicator mounted on the detector will light steadily and any remote annunciators will activate at this time to indi- cate that the detector is in alarm. The detectors are used in combination with an Ansul ALJTOPULSE® Control System and an Ansul fire suppres- sion system for automatic detection, alarm, equipment con- troL and fire suppression system release capabilities. Description The SLK-24F photoelectric detector incorporates the light scatter principle within its sensing chamber and solid-state circuitry allowing it to react to either smoldering or flaming fires. The detector permits optimum smoke entry from any direction while rejecting ambient light levels. The sensing chamber detects the presence of airborne com- bustion products (smoke) using a pulse signal processor LED (light source) and a photo diode (light sensor). The light source and sensor are matched for the same frequency. Smoke is permitted to freely penetrate the sensing chamber allowing the density to be measured effectively without dis- rupting the internal circuitry. All of the circuits in the detector head are shielded to resist adverse electrical interference. The high-impedance circuitry of the detector allows a single loop to power multiple detectors with a very low power con- sumption. An externally-mounted LED indicator is provided which will blink" as long as the detector is powered and ;will light steadily when the detector is in alarm.
