Therefore, the only way to insure the proper operation of 2-wire i3 smoke detectors on a Style D initiating device circuit (IDC) is to use a System Sensor 2W-MOD2 module. Any 2-wire i3 smoke detector (2W-B, 2WT-B, 2W7A- B, or 2WTR-B) wired in the Style D initiating device circuit (IDC) configuration requires the use of a System Sensor 2W-MOD2 module. http://www.systemsensor.com/htm1/2wirprnt.php?page=2-wire&panel=5K5208&co=5i1... 10/30/2007 (.4 System Sensor's /3" series smoke detectors represent significant advancement in conventional detection. The P family is founded on three principles: installation ease, intelligence, and instant inspection. Features Plug-in detector line, mounting base included Large wire entry port In-line terminals with SEMS screws Mounts to octagonal and single-gang backboxes, 4-square backboxes, or direct to ceiling Stop-Drop 'N Lock attachment to base Removable detector cover and chamber Built-in remote maintenance signaling Drift compensation and smoothing algorithms Simplified sensitivity measurement Wide angle, dual color LED indication Loop testing via EZ Walk feature Built-in test switch Instant inspection. The P series provides wide-angle red and green LED indicators for instant inspection of the detector's condition: normal standby, out-of-sensitivity, alarm, or freeze trouble. When connected to the 2W-MOD2 loop test/maintenance module or a panel with the i3 protocol, the EZ Walk loop test feature is available on two-wire P detectors. This feature verifies the initiating loop wiring by providing LED status indication at each detector. Installation ease. The P line redefines installation ease with its plug-in design. This allows an installer to pre-wire the bases included with the heads. The large wire entry port and in-line terminals provide ample room for neatly routing the wiring inside the base. The base accommodates a variety of back box mounting methods, as well as direct mounting with drywall anchors. To complete the installation, i3 heads plug in to the base with a simple Stop-Drop 'N Lock" action. Intelligence. i3 detectors offer a number of intelligent features to simplify testing and maintenance. Drift compensation and smoothing algorithms are standard with the i3 line to minimize nuisance alarms. Two-wire P detectors needing cleaning can generate a remote maintenance signal, when connected to the 2W-MOD2 loop test/maintenance module, or to a panel equipped with the P protocol. This signal is indicated by LEDs located at the module and the panel. The SENS-RDR, a wireless device, displays the sensitivityof i3 detectors in terms of percent per-foot-obsc u ration. The 5600 series offers a full-line of configurations to accommodate a broad range of applications. Both single- and dual-circuit models are available for low- and high- temperature ratings with either fixed temperature or combination fixed temperature/rate-of-rise (ROR) activation. The ROB element of the fixed/ROB models is restorable to accommodate field-testing. Installation flexibility. To satisfy a variety of installation needs, the 5600 series easily mounts to single-gang and octagonal back boxes. And these models accommodate four-square back boxes, when used with a square to round plaster ring. The reversible mounting bracket permits both flush- and surface-mount back box installations. Visual identification. The 5600 series provides clear markings on the exterior of the unit to ensure that the proper detector is being used. Alphanumeric characters identify the activation method, as well as the temperature rating, in Fahrenheit and Celsius degrees. Fixed temperature models are identified FX, while combination fixed/rate-of-rise units are marked FX/ROR.The 5600 series also provides a post-activation indicator in the form of a collector. When the detector is activated, the collector drops from the unit, making it easy to identify the unit in alarm. It was designed to meet multiple applications with the installer and end-user in mind. The BG-12 Series fea- tures a variety of models including single- and dual-action versions. The BG-1 2 Series provides Fire•Lite Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACPs), as well as other manufacturers' controls, with a manual alarm initiating input signal. Its innovative design, durable construction, and multiple mounting op- tions make the BG-12 Series simple to install, maintain, and operate. FEATURES Aesthetically pleasing, highly visible design/color. Attractive contoured shape with light textured finish. Meets ADA 5 lb. maximum pull-force. Meets UL 38, Standard for Manually Actuated Signaling Boxes. Easily operated (single- or dual-action), yet designed to prevent false alarms when bumped, shaken, or jarred. PUSH IN/PULL DOWN handle latches in the down posi- tion to clearly indicate the station has been operated. The word "ACTIVATED" appears on the top of the handle in bright yellow, further indicating operation of the sta- tion. Operation handle features white arrows showing basic operation direction, for non-English-speaking persons. Braille text included in finger-hold area of operation handle and across top of handle. Multiple hex- and key-lock models available. U.S. patent-pending hex-lock needs only a quarter-turn to lock/unlock. Station can be opened for inspection and maintenance without initiating an alarm. Product ID label viewable by simply opening the cover; label is made of a durable long-life material. The words "NORMAL" and "ACTIVATED" are molded into the plastic adjacent to the alarm switch (located inside). Four-position terminal strip molded into backplate. Terminal strip includes Phillips combination-head cap- tive 8/32 screws for easy connection to Initiating Device Circuit (IDC). Terminal screws backed-out at factory and shipped ready to accept field wiring (up to 12 AWG/3.25 mm2). Terminal numbers are molded into the backplate, elimi- nating the need for labels. Red color matches System Sensor's popular SpectrAlertTM horn/strobe series. OPERATION The BG-12 manual pull stations provide a textured finger- hold area that includes Braille text. In addition to PUSH IN and PULL DOWN text, there are arrows indicating how to operate the station, provided for non-English-speaking per- sons. Pushing in and then pulling down on the handle activates the normally-open alarm switch. Once latched in the down position, the word "ACTIVATED" appears at the top in bright yellow, with a portion of the handle protruding at the bot- tom as a visible flag. Resetting the station is simple: in- sert the key or hex (model dependent), twist one quarter- turn, then open the station's front cover, causing the spring- loaded operation handle to return to its original position. The alarm switch can then be reset to its normal (non-alarm) position manually (by hand) or by closing the station's front cover, which automatically resets the switch.
