Scope: This procedure is applicable for GROOVE (insert groove and/or fillet welds) in piping systems within the range of 1_/2" (insert pipe or tube diameter) through 1_1/2" . The range of wall thickness shall be .065" through .154 . Welding may be performed in the following positions 1_( (IC, 2(.,, etc.), Base Metal: The base metal shall conform to P1 (list the applicable P-number groupings, see Table 2). When appropriate, insert AS'I'M or API specification, or otherwise describe by chemical analysis. Information on backing rings or consumable inserts shall be given here. Filler Metal: The filler metal shall conform to AWS specification No.7OS3 from AWS specification AS. 18 . This filler metal falls into F-number 6 and A-number 1_(see Tables 3, 4, and 5). If no AWS classification exists, or If the 'C' classification is used, the manufacturer's trade name and/or weld deposit chemical analysis shall be listed. Preparation of Base Metal: The edges of parts to be joined shall be prepared by TORCH & MACHINE Ct.J'I'I'ING (state whether machined, ground, oxygen cut, etc.). State cleaning methods to remove foreign materials from the mating and Joining surfaces prior to welding. Joint alignment shall be maintained by TACK (state which means are used such as Jig, fixtures, tack weld. etc.). If tack welds are used, describe the welding process to be used, whether they are to be removed as welding progresses, the number, and location. Electrical Characteristics: The current shall be DIRECT (state whether direct or alternating, and if alternating, give the frequency). The base metal shall be on the 1TT (negative or positive when direct current is used) side of the line. Preheat: This paragraph shall describe any preheating requirements.
