water to soften the hose for insertion ·of the fitting.
c. Where it is necessary to make "cold connections, use
the LOC-EZE type fittings.
d. Do not use detergents or lubricants in assembly as they
may cause accelerated deterioration of the hose.
e. Maintain water pressure· within limits of lateral drip lines.
£. Avoid kinking emitter ~upply lines. I£ this should occur,
straighten to original roundness, or cut out kinks and
insert co-q.pling.
g. Make all hose cuts squarely with a sharp knife or curved-
bladed shears.
h. During installation, dirt or other contaminants should be
kept out of emission lines by placing tape over open ends
which are not immediately· secured. This avoids conta-
minants which could cause clogging.
i. Where excessive elevation changes occur, insure con-
sistency of application rates with pressure compensating
emitters, pressure regulators or vari ... flow valves.

and in accordance with manufacturers recommendations.
C. FILTER UNIT.
1!' Maintenance
The pressure drop across the filter is approxifil:ately-2 psi with
clean filter elements. When the pressure drop increases to
10 to 15 psi, the filter ele_ments should be cleaned and
re-installed in the filter body-.· The pressure differential
build-up is geometic, i.e. once it starts to increase,
it builds up at an increasing rate. The pressure differential
-should be checked at the start of each irrigation. If in doubt,
