F "Thc INCH" QUICK RESPONSE A UTOMA TIC SPRINKLER MODEL GL5606 ONE INCH ADJUSTABLE PLATE CONCEALED PENDENT DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION The Globe Quick Response GL5606 Adjustable Concealed Pendent Sprinkler has a low profile, aesthetically pleasing design. It provides sprinkler operations approximately six times faster than ordinary sprinklers and can be installed wherever standard concealed spray sprinklers are specified when allowed by the applicable standards. This sprinkler offers the additional feature of greatly in- creased safety to life and should be used advisedly and under the direction of approving authorities having jurisdiction. The sprinkler is available with a nominal I" of adjustment and a low profile cover plate assembly. All that is seen at the ceiling is a 3 5/16" diameter ceiling plate or an optional 2 3/4" diameter ceiling plate color finished to match the specifier's exact requirements. The GL Series Concealed Sprinkler may be virtually invisible as it does not interrupt the "smooth flow" of the ceiling. Globe's GL5606 Concealed Sprinkler utilizes a 3mm frangible glass ampule which is located above the ceiling and concealed from view by the ceiling plate. The provided protective cap needs to be removed in order to install the sprinkler with the proper wrench. The protective cap must be replaced on the sprinkler until the time the cover plate is to be installed. The "push on - screw off' designed cover plate is easily installed and with a nominal 1" of adjustment makes it easier to get a proper fit at the ceiling. Operation of the sprinkler occurs when heat build up causes the solder holding the cover plate to the support shell to melt allowing the cover plate to fall clear. Continued heat build up causes the 3mm glass bulb to burst allowing the deflector to drop down and distribute water in an approved pattern to extinguish or control the fire. th1h1k 4 t 'll 1911 FLAT TECHNICAL DATA 'See reverse side for Approvals and Specifications. -Temperature Ratings - 135°F (57°C) Sprinkler, 135°F (57°C) Cover Plate 155°F (68°C) Sprinkler, 135°F (57°C) Cover Plate 155°F (68°C) Sprinkler, 155°F (68°C) Cover Plate 175°F (79°C) Sprinkler, 155°F (68°C) Cover Plate 200°F (93°C) Sprinkler, 155°F (68°C) Cover Plate -Water Working Pressure Rating - 175 psi (12 Bars) -Factory tested hydrostatically to 500 psi (34 Bars) 'Maximum low temperature glass bulb rating is -67°F (-55°C) -Frame - bronze • Deflector - brass • Screw - brass 'Lodgement Wire - stainless steel • Bulb seat - copper 'Spring - nickel alloy . If pre-drilling is required (certain types of wood truss/wood joist and all concrete base materials), select the recommended drill bit type and diameter. For Concrete Vertigo only, drill to the appropriate embedment depth, adding at least one diameter (1/4" to 1/2") to the drilling depth to prevent the tip of the fastener from running into a dead end at the rear of the anchor hole. Concrete Select the appropriate socket driver for the anchor size and type to be installed and mount into chuck of installation tool. Insert the Vertigo fastener into the socket driver, and install perpendicular to the base material surface. Drive the fastener with a smooth steady motion until the coupling is firmly seated against the surface of the base material. Thread the appropriate Steel diameter steel threaded rod or threaded bolt into the coupling. The threaded rod or bolt should fully engage the thread length of the coupling on a vertical mount fastener. The threaded rod or threaded portion of the bolt can pass through coupling of a side Wood mount fastener. For UL and FM listings for Pipe Hangers, Steel Vertigo should be installed with a retaining nut. FireLock full-flow elbows and tees feature CAD-developed, hydrodynamic design, affording a shorter center-to-end dimension than standard fittings. A noticeable bulge allows the water to make a smoother turn to maintain similar flow characteristics as standard full flow fittings. FireLock fittings are designed for use exclusively with Victaulic IPS-sized couplings that have been Listed or Approved for Fire Protection Services. Use of other couplings or flange adapters may result in bolt pad interference. - Victaulic FireLock fittings pressure ratings conform to the ratings of Victaulic FireLock Style 005 couplings. MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS Fitting: Ductile iron conforming to ASTM A-536, grade 65-45-12. Fitting Coating: Orange enamel. Red Enamel in EMEA-l. Optional: Hot dipped galvanized. FireLoW Fittings GENERAL NOTES NOTE: When assembling FireLock EZ couplings onto end caps, take additional care to make certain the end cap is fully seated against the gasket end stop. Model 1011 TESTANDRAIN® matches all the features and benefits of our Model 1000 by providing loth the test function and the express drain function in a multistory installation for a wet fire sprinkler system, with the added feature of an integral Model 7000 Pressure Relief Valve with drainage piping. The Model 1011A complies with the requirements of NFPA-13 that stipulate a pressure relief valve be installed on all gridded systems and downstream of all pressure reducing valves (see reverse). The Model 1011A TESTANDRAIN® is a compact single handle ball valve which includes a tamper resistant test orifice and integral tamper resistant sight glasses, and is 300 PSI rated. Available in a full range of sizes from 3/4 to 2 NPT and BSPT, with all specifiable orifice sizes 3/8 (2.8K), 7A6 (4.2K), ½ (5.6K), 17/32fl (8.0K), /8 (11.2K, ELO), 3/4 (14.0K, ESFR), and K25 as required by NFPA 13, 2007 Edi- tion (see reverse). The included UL/FM Model 7000 Pressure Relief Valve features a flushing handle and is factory rated for 175 PSI. Other pressure setings are available and may be substituted. Designed to relieve excess system pressure caused by surges or temperature changes as well as solve the dif- ficull problem of providing the relief valve with a convenient drainage-piping outlet. Shipped with relief valve and bypass drain ports plugged to expedite pressure testing the system. A locking kit is available and can be ordered with the valve to provide vandal resistance or prevent uninten- tional alarm activaticn. Repair kits including (1) adapter gasket, (1) ball, (2) valve seats, (1) stem packing, and (1) stem washer are avail- able for all TESTANDRAIN® valves. Valve and orifice size must be specified when ordering. NOTE: I: is important to note that the pressure rating of the relief valve indicates an operating range of pressure for both opening and closing of the valve. Standard relief valves are required to OPEN in a range of pressure between 90% and 105% of their rating. The valves are requed to CLOSE at a pre sure above 80% of that rating. The relief valve should be installed where it is easily accessible for main- tenance Care should be taken -hat the relief valve CANNOT be isolated from the system when the system is operational. A relief valve should NEVER have a shutoff valve or a plug downstream of its outlet. TESTANDRAIN is a registered trademark of tGF Faanufacturing Inc.
