The AUTOPULSE 542R is a six-zone Agent Releasing Control Panel for single and dual hazard agent releasing applications. The AUTOPULSE 542R provides reliable fire detection, signaling and protection for commercial, industrial and institutional buildings requiring agent-based releasing. The AUTOPULSE 542R is compatible with System Sensor's i3 detectors which are conventional smoke detectors that can transmit a maintenance trouble signal to the panel Indicating the need for clean- ing and a supervisory 1reeze' signal when the ambient temperature falls below the detector rating of approximately 45 °F (7 °C). In addition, the control panel is compatible with conventional input devices such as two-wire smoke detectors, four-wire smoke detectors, pull stations, waterflow devices, tamper switches and other normally-open contact devices. Refer to Device Compatibility Document for a complete listing of compatible devices. Four outputs are programmable as NACs (Notification Appliance Circuits) or releasing circuits. Three programmable Form-C relays (factory programmed for Alarm, Trouble and Supervisory) and 24 VDC special application resettable and non-resettable power outputs are also included on the main circuit board. The AUTOPULSE 542R supervises all wiring, AC voltage, batery charger and battery level. Activation of a compatible smoke detector or any normally-open fire alarm Initiating device will activate audible and visual signaling devices, illuminate an indicator, display alarm information on the panel's LCD, sound the piezo sounder at the panel, activate the panel alarm relay and operate an optional module used to notify a remote station or initiate an auxiliary control function. The AUTOPULSE 542R(E) releasing panel offers the same features as the AUTOPULSE 542R but allows connection to 220/240 VAC. Unless otherwise specified, the information in this data sheet applies to both the 110/120 VAC and 220/240 VAC versions of the panels. Its value depends on the discharge current, the temperature during discharge, the final cutoff voltage and the general history of the battery. Capacity expressed in ampere-hours (AH), is the product of the current discharged and the length of discharge time. The rated capacity (C, where C = rated Capacity of the battery in AH) of the PS series batteries is measured by its perfor- mance over 20 hours of constant current discharge at a tem- perature of 68 OF (20 °C) to a cutoff voltage of 1.72 volts, per cell (10.32 V on a 12 V battery). For example: Model PS-1250, with a rated capacity of 5.0 AH, will deliver 250 milli-amps (1/20 of 4 AH, or 0.05C) for 20 hours before the voltage drops to 10.32 V (1.72 x 6 cells). Both should be bonded to earth, when required, to ensure the entire assembly Is protected against ground-fault short circuits. FUNCTIONAL TEST Ensure the suppression system is locked out when testing the discharge pressure switch. Failure to do so may result In intro- ducing a potentially hazardous environment causing serious Injury or death. i o The pressure switch plunger is designed so that, once Installed, 0 the switch cover does not have to be removed to test the switch's functionality. To test the switch, perform the following steps: EEC1RCAL *OW.1 Insert a flat-blade screwdriver or other Instrument into the : groove on the side of the plunger. Pull up on the plunger until an audible click is heard. The pressure switch c ontacts will transfer. Verttythe switch produced the desired system response. Depress the plunger, returning it to the set" position, to reset ro the switch contacts. / ° ° 1 RESET AND RECHARGE Cc825 GROUND To reset the pressure switch after a system discharge, perform SCREW the following steps: Remove the pressure from the actuation line of the pressure switch (If not already done). Depress the plunger on top of the switch until the top of the plunger Is flush with the top of the pressure port.
