Although these products do not require separate approvals, Schedule-10/Schedule-40 gives you the extra quality assurance you demand. Our Sch-10 (l',"- 8") pipe and Sch-40 (1"- 214") pipe have passed the same thorough lab testing as our other listed pipe products, and receive periodic mill inspections from both UL and FM agents to ensure consistent quality. I Galvanized Pipe Schedule-I0/Schedule-40 product can be "hot-dip" galvanized to meet FM requirements for dry systems in accordance with the zinc coating specifications of ASTM A-123. Our advanced formula mill coating of- fers a clean, durable surface. It is also paint-ready for custom color applications without special preparation. The internal surface of all black Allied Tube & Conduit Fire Sprinkler pipe products up to 4.5000" in diameter is coated with our new Antibacterial For- mula, "ABF". In scientific laboratory test, ABS proved to have superior resis- tance to microbial colonization of pipe walls, thereby delaying or possibly pre- venting the onset of Microbiologically Influenced corrosion (MIC) when the First Sprinkler System is first installed. Meets "Buy American" requirement and is available through distributors in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Schedule-10/Schedule-40 pipe are in compliance with the following: ASTM A-135, and NFPA 13. Both pipe products have a working pressure rating of 300 psi maximum and also meet the stringent requirement for the following tests: I4Specifications NPS Nominal I.D. WI. Wt. It uses either a two-piece Style 10 1/2 inch NPT) or Style 40 (3/4 inch NPT) Recessed Es- cutcheon with 1/2 inch (12,7 mm) of recessed adjustment or up to 3/4 inch (19,1 mm) of total adjustment from the flush pendent position, or a two-piece Style 20 (1/2 inch NPT) or Style 30(3/4 inch NPT) Recessed Escutcheon with 1/4 inch (6,4 mm) of recessed adjust- ment or up to 1/2 inch (12,7 mm) of total adjustment from the flush pen- dent position. The adjustment provided by the Recessed Escutcheon reduces the accuracy to which the fixed pipe drops to the sprinklers must be cut. Corrosion resistant coatings, where applicable, are utilized to extend the life of copper alloy sprinklers beyond that which would otherwise be ob- tained when exposed to corrosive at- mospheres. Although corrosion resis- tant coated sprinklers have passed the standard corrosion tests of the appli- cable approval agencies, the testing is not representative of all possible cor- rosive atmospheres. Consequently, it is recommended that the end user be consulted with respect to the suitability of these coatings for any given corro- sive environment. The effects of ambi- ent temperature, concentration of chemicals, and gas/chemical velocity, should be considered, as a minimum, along with the corrosive nature of the chemical to which the sprinklers will be exposed. An intermediate level versions of the Series TY-FRB Pendent Sprinklers are detailed in Technical Data Sheet TFP356, and Sprinkler Guards are de- tailed in Technical Data Sheet TFP780 WARNINGS The Series TY-FRB Sprinklers de- scribed herein must be installed and maintained in compliance with this document, as well as with the applica- ble standards of the National Fire Pro- tection Association, in addition to the standards of any other authorities hav- ing jurisdiction. Failure to do so may impair the integrity of these devices. The owner is responsible for maintain- ing their fire protection system and de- vices in proper operating condition. Absence of an escutcheon, which is used to cover a clearance hole, may delay the time to sprinkler operation in a fire situation. Sprinklers that are found to be leaking or exhibiting visible signs of corrosion must be replaced. Automatic sprinklers must never be painted, plated, coated or otherwise altered after leaving the factory. Modi- fied sprinklers must be replaced. Sprinklers that have been exposed to corrosive products of combustion, but have not operated, should be replaced if they cannot be completely cleaned by wiping the sprinkler with a cloth or by brushing it with a soft bristle brush. Care must be exercised to avoid dam- age to the sprinklers - before, during, and after installation. Sprinklers dam- aged by dropping, striking, wrench twist/slippage, or the like, must be re- placed. Also, replace any sprinkler that has a cracked bulb or that has lost liquid from its bulb. (Ref. Installation Section). Frequent visual inspections are rec- ommended to be initially performed for corrosion resistant coated sprinklers, after the installation has been com- pleted, to verify the integrity of the cor- rosion resistant coating. Thereafter, annual inspections per NFPA 25 should suffice; however, instead of in- specting from the floor level, a random sampling of close-up visual inspec- tions should be made, so as to better determine the exact sprinkler condi- TFPI7I * 2-7/8' DIA. 5/8±1/4" (73.0 mm) 3/4" (19.1 mm) (15.9±6.4 mm) 2-1/4" DIA. 1/4(6.4mm) FACE OF MOUNTING SPRINKLER PLATE FITTING 57.2 1/8" (3.2 mm) MOUNTING SURFACE SERIES 1-1/4" (31,8 mm) CLOSURE TYFRB 3/4" (19.1 mm) FIGURE 9 SERIES TY-FRB RECESSED PENDENT WITH TWO-PIECE 3/4 INCH TOTAL ADJUSTMENT STYLE 10 RECESSED ESCUTCHEON 5.6 K-FACTOR, 1/2 INCH NPT - 2-7/8" DIA. 5/8±1/4" (73.0 mm) - I 3/4" (19.1 mm) I (15.9±6.4 mm) 2-1/4" DIA. 1/4" (6.4 mm) (57,2 mm) MOUNTING I FACE OF PLATE SPRINKLER FITTING 1/8" -I _____ L ___ _________________ (3,2 mm) / I4 ____J mm) MOUNTING SURFACE CLOSURE SERIES i-5!16')33. FIGURE A 8.0 K-FACTOR MODEL F890 (SIN G1890) QUICK AND STANDARD RESPONSE EXTENDED COVERAGE LIGHT HAZARD PENDENT AND RECESSED PENDENT SPRINKLERS GENERAL DESCRIPTION The 8.0 K-Factor (17/32 inch orifice), Model F890 Designer Quick and Standard Response Extended Cover- age Light Hazard (ECLH) Pendent and Recessed Pendent Sprinklers (Ref. Figure A) are automatic sprinklers of the frangible bulb type. They are in- tended for use In automatic sprinkler systems designed in accordance with standard installation rules (e.g., NFPA 13) for the protection of light hazards up to a maximum coverage area of 400 ft2 (37,2 m2), as compared to the maxi- mum coverage area of 225 ft2 (20,9 M2) for standard coverage sprinklers. The recessed version of the F890 ECLH Sprinkler is obtained by combin- ing the pendent sprinkler with the Model F705 Recessed Escutcheon (Ref. Figures A and B). The F705 Re- cessed Escutcheon provides 1/4 inch (6,4 mm) of recessed adjustment or up to 1/2 inch (12,7 mm) of adjustment from the flush pendent position. The F705 is a separable two-piece design which allows installation of the sprin- klers and pressure testing of the fire protection system, prior to ceiling con- struction and/or application of a finish coat to the ceiling. They also permit refinishing of a ceiling surface without having to first shut down the fire pro- tection system and remove sprinklers. The adjustment provided by the F705 substantially reduces the accuracy to which the fixed pipe drops to the sprin- klers must be cut. Also, the Closure has a 1/2 inch (12,7 mm) wide flange which provides ample clearance for covering the mounting hole. Installation of Model F8,9() Peud.ent Sprinklers in recessed escutcheons other than the F705 will void all sprinkler warranties, as well as pos- sib&y void the sprinkler's Approvals and/or Listings. The 8.0 K-Factor, Model F890 De- signer Quick and Standard Response Extended Coverage Light Hazard (ECLH) Pendent and Recessed Pen- dent Sprinklers are rated for use at a maximum service pressure of 175 psi (12,1 bar) and they are available in the temperature ratings and finishes Indi- cated in Table A. Recessed versions of the F890 ECLH Sprinklers are obtained by utilizing the Model F890 Pendent Sprinkler in com- bination with the Model F705 Re- cessed Escutcheon. The Model F705 Escutcheons are available either with a chrome plated finish or a coated fin- ish in any color. The flow "Q" in GPM (LPM) is deter- mined by the formula: where the nominal sprinkler discharge coefficient "K" equals 8.0 (115.2) and "p" equals pressure in psi (bar). The F890 utilizes a 3 mm Bulb with a die-cast dezincification resistant bronze alloy Frame. The two pieces of the Button Assembly are constructed from brass and copper. The Gasketed Spring Plate consists of a beryllium nickel disc spring that is sealed on both its inside and outside edges with a Teflonf gasket. The Compression Screw is a bronze, and the Deflector is brass. The F705 Recessed Escutcheon pro- vided for use with the F890 ECLH Sprinklers (Ref. Figure B) has a Clo- sure and Mounting Plate fabricated from low carbon steel. The Mounting Plate prongs, which are compressed back into the Mounting Plate as the Closure is pushed over it, maintain a tight friction fit between the two pieces. The Mounting Plate and Closure can also swivel relative to each other and compensate for non-perpendicularity between the F890 ECLH Sprinkler and the ceiling. The 8.0 K-Factor, Model F890 De- signer Quick and Standard Response Extended Coverage Light Hazard (ECLH) Pendent and Recessed Pen- dent Sprinklers are only to be Installed in accordance with Table B-i or B-2, as applicable. Do not install any bulb type sprinkler if the bulb is cracked or there is a loss of liquid from the bulb. With the sprinkler held horizontal, a small air bubble should be present. The diame- ter of the air bubble is approximately 1/16 inch (1,6 nun) for the 135°F/57'C to 200°F/9.3°C tempera- ture ratings. The Model F890 ECLH Sprinklers must be installed in accordance with the following instructions: 1. Prior to Installing each sprinkler, ver- ify that the face of the sprinkler fitting is within the proper range of distance which can be accommodated by the particular type of escutcheon. When installing the F890 Sprinkler with the F705 Recessed Escutch- eon, for best overall appearance, use Dimension "A" indicated under the "Fully Recessed Dimensions" heading of Figure B. Otherwise, use Dimension "A" under the "High Ad- justment Dimensions" heading. In either case, the remaining adjust- ment can then be used to compen- sate for the possible manufacturing variations in the take-out of the fit- tings, as well as in the make-in of the sprinklers (as permitted by ANSI Bi.20.1). With pipe thread sealant applied to the pipe threads and after installing the F705 Mounting Plate (or other escutcheon, as applicable) over the sprinkler threads, hand tighten the sprinkler into the sprinkler fitting. —2— f DuPont Registered Trademark WRENCH ECESS FIGURE D W-TYPE10 RECESSED SPRINKLER WRENCH FULLY RECESSED DIMENSIONSt Up to 1/4 Inch adjustment from minimum 1/4 Inch to maximum 1/2 Inch recessed position.
