Upcoming William D. Cannon Art Exhibit
District: All
Recommended Action
Receive a presentation on the planning and preparation for the current exhibit, Printed &
Stitched.
Executive Summary
The William D. Cannon Art Gallery is hosting Printed & Stitched, which examines contemporary
approaches in printmaking and textiles. Printed & Stitched features 58 original artworks created
by artist members of the California Society of Printmakers as well as the Studio Art Quilt
Associates of the California and Nevada regions. Printed & Stitched had a soft opening on July
25 and will be on view through October 28.
Explanation & Analysis
The Cannon Art Gallery has a history of focusing on regional and California artists, including
contemporary explorations in printmaking and textile art forms. Recently, dimensional fiber
artworks from Fiber Art Now in 2016 and 2024 exhibited in the gallery brought an
overwhelming positive response and attendance. Printed & Stitched brings two- and three-
dimensional fiber and paper works. Cultural Arts is pleased to establish new working
relationships with regional arts institutions including Exhibit Envoy to host these curated works
from the California Society of Printmakers and Studio Art Quilt Associates of the California and
Nevada regions.
Community Engagement
The city has created an in-gallery interactive area for community involvement.
Fiscal Analysis
None.
