Place of Meeting: Council Chambers Chairman Snedeker called the meeting to order at 4:10 P.M. Those present besides the Chairman were Directors Killen, Cannon and Richardson. Director Sugg was absent. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes of the Special Meeting held December 3, 1973 were approved as presented. PAYMENT OF BILLS: Authorization was given for the payment of the bill presented by Bankers Trust Company in the amount of $50.00, for services rendered as Co- Paying Agent for the year ended 10-31-73. Joint Use of Parkin Facilities at Plaza Camino Real. Don Agatep, Planning Director, was present anclinformed the Directors the Plaza Cinema Theatre has requested a Conditional Uie Permit from the City whereby they would be allowed to enlarge their existing facility at the Plaze Camino Real from one to four viewing auditoriums. The proposed building enlargement would increase seating capacity from the present 640 seats to 1420 seats. This would require some 238 parking spaces, per Ordinance requirements. The applicant proposes to construct the addition al auditorium in the area currently used for parking which is directly to the west of the ex- isting facility. The Planning Staff would like' an indication from the Parking Authority as to: l. Whether the· parking needs of the propose theatre enlargement can be adequately met through joint use of spaces adjacent to the Crocker Bank and ·those spaces serving the Shopping Center on the north side of Marron Road; and 2. Whether approval of the Conditional Use Permit should be contingent on any special parking provisions as directed by the Parkin Authority. In discussing the matter it was the concensus of the Directors that a~ agreement should be worked out between the May Company and the owners of the theatre. Mr. Siegel, one of the· owners of the theatre stated they have not increased the original land They have found it would be best to split the auditorium into three parts in order to be able to show more pictures. Director Killen stated it was his understanding that it was the intention of the May Company to include parking facilities for the satalite businesses. The original plan approved 3,128 parking spaces. Getz, President of The May Stores Shopping Centers, Inc., in- dicating an agreement had been entered into in 1969 between Plaza Camino Real and Cinema Plaza Theatre, and that the theatre would be built in two stages. Further, there is sufficient parkin available to serve the expanded theatre now pro- posed. It was agreed that the parking needs for the pro- posed expansion of the theatre can be ~dequately met, providing the agreement between the May Co. and the Cinema Plaza Theatre is legally binding. It was also agreed that no special parking pro- visions were needed at this time. Adjournment: By proper motion the meeting was adjourned at 4:50 P.M .
