Monthly Library Report
August 2025
Highlights:
The Library & Cultural Arts Department earned a national grand prize for the annual Summer
Reading Adventure, in which 3,124 participants logged a total of 1,941,840 minutes of reading.
The award came from Beanstack, the software we use for reading challenges. In issuing the
award, Beanstack considered overall participation, total minutes and books logged and
community engagement. In all, the library’s $500 grand prize will be invested in making the
2026 Summer Reading Adventure another community success.
Special thanks to Senior Librarian Emily Hardy, who oversees the program, our Library &
Cultural Arts Department staff and support organizations, and the Carlsbad community for
making the Summer Reading Adventure possible.
