PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Dillon led the Pledge of Allegiance. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on April 24, 2025. Motion by Vice Chair Schouwe, second by Commissioner Ross, to approve the Minutes as presented. Motion carried, 5/0. PRESENTATIONS: None. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. CONSENT CALENDAR: None. PUBLIC HEARING: None. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS: 1. AGE-FRIENDLY CARLSBAD ACTION PLAN UPDATE: Receive a citywide update on the Age- Friendly Carlsbad Action Plan. (Staff Contact: Eric Biggin, Parks & Recreation Department) Recommendation: Receive the update. The Senior Commission received an update on the Age-Friendly Carlsbad Action Plan from the Housing & Homeless Services, Library & Cultural Arts, Parks & Recreation, and Transportation departments. The report covered six key domains: outdoor spaces and buildings, social and civic participation, housing, health and wellness, mobility, and community connections, and outlined each department’s role, recent progress, and goals and objectives underway across the city. A PowerPoint presentation is on file in the Office of the City Clerk. The Commission received the report. 2. DEPARTMENT REPORT ON SENIOR ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS – Receive a report on recently completed and upcoming Adults 50+ activities and programs, as well as other topics of interest. (Staff Contact: Eric Biggin, Parks & Recreation Department) Recommendation: Receive the report. June 26, 2025, 3:30 p.m. Minutes June 26, 2025 Senior Commission Special Meeting Page 2 Recreation Area Manager Eric Biggin and Recreation Supervisor II Andi Koller presented a PowerPoint presentation (on file in the Office of the City Clerk) on recently completed and upcoming Senior Center activities and programs, as well as other topics of interest. The Commission received the report. COMMISSION COMMENTARY AND REQUESTS FOR CONSIDERATION OF MATTERS: Chair Rangus commended the Senior Center staff for offering a wide range of programs, activities and services. She also mentioned her attendance at Parks & Recreation’s Hot Rods and Cool Treats special event, noting the strong intergenerational turnout, and thanked staff for organizing the department’s volunteer appreciation event. ANNOUNCEMENTS: None. STAFF COMMENTS: Parks & Recreation Director Lancaster thanked the commissioners who attended the department’s volunteer appreciation event and expressed thanks for their service on the commission.
