SPECIAL INSPECTION REPORT
Performed 2 sand cone density tests which show 90% minimum
compaction as required.
As requested, Metzger Testing and Inspection arrived on-site to
observe the placement and recompaction of soils at the north-
east side of existing residence and to perform soils density
testing. Location of testing was performed within grid lines A-D
and 1-5 with (2) Sand Cone test at elevation 3'-8" below finished
floor at Front Yard 5' Southwest of Front Door and at evelvation
2'-0" below finished floor located Front Yard 8-1 /2' West of
Existing Concrete Edge at Kitchen, see results dated March 16,
2024.
I observed the fill and recompaction of on-site soils and recorded
the elevation as indicated above which probe checks resulted in
firm and unyielding hardened formational material. The
contractor backfilled this area with 6" lifts per geotechnical
engineering recommedation. (2) Sand Cone densitiy test were
performed at elevation 3'-8" below finished floor with a result of
97% compaction with 9.1 % moisture content and at elevation
2'-0" below finised floor with a result of 99% compaction with
11.1 % moisture content.
All deleterious organic materials were removed from the soil.

SUBJECT: Geotechnical Findings for Proposed Building Add-on
2318 Pio Pico Drive
Carlsbad, CA 2008
Dear Mr. Miller,
November 20, 2023
Job Number: 231109
We inspected the Subject Site on Monday, November 20, 2023. The purpose of our inspection
was to make recommendations regarding whether the Subject Site was suitable for the
proposed building project. Present at the time was Douglas Metzger (Special Inspector #1142).
Using a Soil Test Proving Ring Penetrometer, we probed the proposed building pads in 11
separate locations as shown on the Site Sketch. All the probed sites were found to have a
factored bearing capacity greater than 1,500 pounds per sq uare foot.
We noted that there were organics and excess moisture in the areas of the proposed building
support pads. We t herefore recommend that all organics and excess moisture be removed
from all the proposed building pads. Additionally, we recommend that all reinforcing steel be
located at least 6-inches from t he bottom of t he pad and 4-inches for all sides.
Respectfully submitted,
AMCOS GEOTECHNICAL

CLIMATE ACTION PLAN
CONSISTENCY CHECKLIST
B-50
Development Services
Building Division
1635 Faraday Avenue
442-339-2719
www.carlsbadca.gov
This checklist is intended to help building permit applicants identify which Climate Action Plan (CAP) ordinance requirements
apply to their project. This completed checklist (B-50) and summary (B-55) must be included with the building permit
application. The Carlsbad Municipal Code (CMC) can be referenced during completion of this document.
NOTE: The following type of permits are not required to fill out this form
❖ Patio I ❖ Decks I ❖ PME (w/o panel upgrade) I ❖ Pool
The B-50 checklist was originally developed several years ago to support implementation of the CAP. Recent updates to
the California Building Standards Code have imposed newer performance standards on building permit applications.
Therefore, the applicant is advised to review all applicable code sections and apply the maximum performance standard,
which may exceed the CAP consistency checklist requirements
Consultation with a certified Energy Consultant is encouraged to assist in filling out this document. Appropriate
certification includes, but is not limited to: Licensed, practicing Architect, Engineer, or Contractor familiar with Energy
compliance, IECC/HERS Compliance Specialist, ICC G8 Energy Code Specialist, RESNET HERS rater certified, certified
ICC Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner, ICC Commercial Energy Inspector and/or Plans Examiner, ICC CALgreen
Inspector/Plans Examiner, or Green Building Residential Plan Examiner.
If an item in the checklist is deemed to be not applicable to a project, or is less than the minimum required by ordinance,
check NIA and provide an explanation or code section describing the exception.
The project plans must show all details as stated in the applicable Carlsbad Municipal Code (CMC) and/or Energy Code and
Green Code sections.
