Subject: Approval of the 2026 Regular Planning Commission Meeting Calendar
Recommended Action
Adopt a resolution approving the 2026 Regular Planning Commission Meeting Calendar.
Executive Summary/Discussion
The Planning Commission is being asked to approve the 2026 schedule for regular Planning
Commission meetings.
The Planning Commission establishes its regular meeting schedule annually by resolution.
Historically, the Planning Commission has met on the first and third Wednesdays of each
month. For 2026, this calendar reflects that with no modifications due to holidays. Adopting the
calendar by resolution, pursuant to the state’s open meeting laws known as the Brown Act
(specifically California Government Code Section 54954(a)), establishes the Planning
Commission’s schedule of regular meetings. Additionally, the Planning Commission increases
notification to the public of its scheduled regular meetings, but does not preclude calling any
special meetings in accordance with of the Brown Act if any are required.
Regular Planning Commission meetings have been scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. in the
Council Chamber at City Hall at 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive.
Fiscal Analysis
There are no significant fiscal impacts that would result from adoption of the attached
resolution.
Next Steps
Staff will distribute the approved calendar to the Planning Commission, City Council, staff and
local newspapers. In addition, the calendar will be posted on the city’s website.
Environmental Evaluation
The proposed action to approve the 2026 Regular Planning Commission Meeting Calendar is
exempt from environmental review under California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines
Sections 15061(b)(3) and 15378(b)(5) can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility the
proposed action may have a significant effect on the environment.

RESOLUTION NO. .
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE 2026 REGULAR PLANNING COMMISSION
MEETING CALENDAR
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has determined that it will establish its scheduled regular
meetings annually by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Ralph M. Brown Act, specifically California Government Code Section 54954(a),
provides for the establishment of an annual regular meeting calendar procedure; and
WHEREAS, all regular meetings will be scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber
located at 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive; and
WHEREAS, special meetings of the Planning Commission will be called as necessary following
the requirements of the Brown Act, specifically California Government Code section 54956.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1.That the above recitations are true and correct.
2.The proposed action to approve the 2026 Regular Planning Commission Meeting
Calendar is exempt from environmental review under CEQA Guidelines Section
15061(b)(3) and 15378(b)(5) as it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility
the proposed action may have a significant effect on the environment.
3.That the 2026 Regular Planning Commission Meeting Calendar establishing the dates
and locations for regular Planning Commission meetings (Attachment A) is approved.
4.That the 2026 Regular Planning Commission Meeting Calendar will be posted to the
city’s website.
5.That all regular meetings will be scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. in the Council
Chamber located at 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive.
