HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Regular Meeting
CALL TO ORDER: 6 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Majer, Jacobs, May, Schreibman, Peterson
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Jacobs led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Motion by Commissioner May, seconded by Commissioner Schreibman, to approve the
minutes as presented. Motion carried; minutes approved as presented – 4/0/1 (Jacobs –Abstain).
PUBLIC HEARING: None.
PUBLIC COMMENT: The Brown Act allows any member of the public to comment on items not on
the agenda. Please treat others with courtesy, civility, and respect. Members of the public may
participate in the meeting by submitting comments as provided on the front page of this agenda.
The Commission will receive comments at the beginning of the meeting. In conformance with the
Brown Act, no action can occur on these items. None.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS:
1.LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: A presentation regarding the Intergovernmental Affairs Program of
the City of Carlsbad and the city’s recent and ongoing legislative advocacy efforts related to
the preservation of historic resources. (Staff contacts: Jason Haber, Intergovernmental
Affairs Director and City Council Member Teresa Acosta.)
Recommended Action: Receive the informational report and provide feedback.
Mike Strong, Assistant Director of Community Development, introduced Jason
Haber, Intergovernmental Affairs Director, who reviewed the a PowerPoint presentation on
the item with Teresa Acosta, City Council Member, District 4. (on file in the Office of the City
Clerk).
The Commission received the report.
2.3RD GRADE ART CONTEST: Information regarding the 3rd Grade Art contest held on May 20,
2025. (Staff contact: Mike Strong, Assistant Director of Community Development.)
Recommended Action: Receive the informational report and provide feedback.
Mike Strong, Assistant Director of Community Development, reviewed a PowerPoint
presentation on the item (on file in the Office of the City Clerk).
The Commission received the report and provided feedback.
Commissioner Schreibman noted that it would be nice if time allowed to show the children’s
work during the meeting.
