Recommended Action
Adopt a resolution approving the 2026 Regular Arts Commission Meeting Calendar.
Executive Summary
The Arts Commission establishes its regular meeting schedule annually by vote. Adopting the
calendar by vote meets Brown Act requirements (California Government Code Section 54954)
and provides the Arts Commission the opportunity to notify the public of its scheduled regular
meetings in accordance with state law. Special meetings can still be called as needed by
providing 24-hour notice before the time of the special meeting.
Explanation & Analysis All regular meetings will be scheduled to take place on the first Thursday evening of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive. The Arts
Commission proposes to meet monthly in 2026, skipping January and July meetings.

Fiscal Analysis
No financial impact.
Next Steps Staff will distribute the approved calendar to the Arts Commission and other city staff. In
addition, the calendar will be posted on the city’s website.

Environmental Evaluation
The proposed action is not a “project” as defined by CEQA Section 21065 and CEQA Guidelines
Section 15378(b)(5) and does not require environment review under CEQA Guidelines Section
15060(c)(3) and 15061(b)(3), because the proposed action to adopt a resolution approving the
2026 Regular Arts CommissionMeeting Calendar is an organizational or administrative
government activity that does not involve any commitment to any specific project which may
result in a potentially significant physical impact on the environment. Any subsequent action or
direction stemming from the proposed action may require preparation of an environmental
document in accordance with CEQA or CEQA Guidelines.
