Recommended Action
Receive a presentation on high-level budget overview for fiscal year 2025-26.
Executive Summary
Staff will present a high-level overview of the fiscal year 2025-26 budget for the Transportation
Department to give the Commission a basic understanding of the department's fiscal priorities
and planned projects for the upcoming year.
The City of Carlsbad’s fiscal year budget is available on the city’s website at:

Next Steps
No immediate next steps are required following the presentation. However, the Commission’s
feedback and questions are encouraged to ensure alignment with the city's transportation
goals.

BUDGET PROCESS
• Annually prepare a rolling 5-year budget plan
•15-year forecast
• Funding for projects appropriated annually when needed
• Construction funding is forecasted but requested for
approval when the final design is completed
•Increases transparency of funding
•Increases opportunities for City Council to prioritize
projects
