Discussion The City of Carlsbad has various outreach activities throughout the year which provide an opportunity to help protect and preserve our natural resources and educate residents and businesses on issues related to Environmental Sustainability. Additionally, the city has programs that support businesses in sustainable efforts and recognize them for their efforts, such as the Green Business Network and the Business Environmental Stewardship Award. Staff will share these opportunities as they align with the commission’s work plan goal of Education and Advocacy to support environmental issues and programs, educate the business community, general public, and elected officials on topics related to the commission’s mission statement , and participate in outreach education events, such as Earth Month, beach and creek cleanups, and other city-sponsored events. Updated lists of events and related information for Environmental Sustainability can be found on the city’s website at https://www.carlsbadca.gov/departments/environmental-sustainability. Next Steps Staff will continue to update this commission on outreach and recognition opportunities throughout the year. Fiscal Analysis This action has no fiscal impact. Environmental Evaluation The proposed action is not a “project” as defined by CEQA Section 21065 and CEQA Guidelines Section 15378(b)(5) and does not require environment review under CEQA Guidelines Section ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY COMMISSION Feb. 5, 2026 Item #3 Page 1 of 2 15060(c)(3) and 15061(b)(3), because the proposed action to receive this report is an organizational or administrative government activity that does not involve any commitment to any specific project which may result in a potentially significant physical impact on the environment.
