Receive a report from Community Arts Grant recipient, La Costa Canyon High School Band.
Executive Summary
This item supports the Arts Commission Work Plan goal “participate in the Community Arts
Grant process.” La Costa Canyon High School Band representative will provide a status update
on the use of funds from Fiscal Year 2025-26 Community Arts Grant. The update is being
presented by a La Costa Canyon High School Band Booster representative.
Explanation & Analysis
La Costa Canyon High School has received Community Arts Grants for the fiscal years 2024–
2025 and 2025–2026, under the Education Institutions or Affiliated Groups category. The La
Costa Canyon Band Program organizes a music enrichment camp for local elementary, middle,
and high school students, focusing on music fundamentals with guidance from experienced
coaches and student leaders. This initiative aims to enhance music education and community
engagement, reflecting a 25% increase in program participation over the past three years.

La Costa Canyon High School proudly hosts an
annual, community-wide music enrichment showcase
Band-O Rama
●Students from elementary, middle, and high schools come together for
a full day of learning, collaboration, and performance.
●Experienced coaches and dedicated student leaders guide participants
in strengthening music fundamentals and refining ensemble skills.
●The day culminates in a showcase performance of each band on their
own and then one piece all together -highlighting student growth,
teamwork, and achievement.

●The event is powered by parent volunteers and supported through
community partnerships.
○Funding supports music purchases and printing, coaching
stipends, equipment rentals and transportation, event supplies,
and meals for participating students.

and a small ensemble.
They perform at a variety of school and community events, such as the
Encinitas Holiday Parade, Band-o-Rama, Cardiff Ice Cream Social, and their
own concerts!

The San Dieguito Academy (SDA) Band program, directed by Jeremy Wuertz, offers Wind
Ensemble, Symphonic Band, a Jazz Band, and a Pep Band!
