Scope of Work: Installation of High Pile Storage Racks
Project Address: 5803 Newton Dr. Carlsbad, CA 92008
To Whom it may concern,
Please accept the information in addition to the Drawings and High Piled Storage Analysis
provided for our High Piled Storage Permit and Building Permit.
The project site is a non-public accessible warehouse that contains an existing CMSA Sprinkler
System with a density of 0.45gpm over 3,000 square feet with Intermediate 200° rated sprinkler
heads and will utilize a 2 Level In-Rack Sprinkler System (K5.6 15psi) The total Building
Area is 11,489 square feet with a Maximum Ceiling Height of 29'-9".
The Products that will be stored upon the storage racks shall be on Wooden Pallets, in 8'-0"+
aisle widths in Single & Double-Row. All products shall be stored in Corrugated cartons and
shall not encapsulated. The products shall be classified as GROUP A PLASTICS. Items stored
upon the racks shall be:
- Bottle Caps & IC Reagent Cartridges - Free Flowing Group A Plastics,
Unexpanded,
- Sterile PC Flasks & Mouth Bottles - Unstable, Group A Plastics, Unexpanded
- Disposable Serological Pipette - Unstable, Group A Plastics, Unexpanded
- Cloth Lab Coats - Class III Commodity
The top of storage shall not exceed the permissible storage height of 25'-0". The total High Pile
Storage area is 3, 499 square feet. The Flue Space shall be maintained in accordance the 2019
Edition of the California Fire Code, Single Row Racks will provide a 3" Transverse Flue Space
and the Double-Row Racks will provide a 3" Transverse Flue Space and a 6" Longitudinal Flue
Space per the CFC Table 3208.3. Pallet Stops will be used to achieve this spacing.
