Receive an update on the work of the California Senate Transportation Subcommittee on
LOSSAN Rail Corridor Resiliency and provide feedback.
Discussion
The California Senate Transportation Subcommittee on LOSSAN Rail Corridor Resiliency was
authorized in 2023 to focus on improving ridership, reliability, and connectivity along the
LOSSAN (Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo) corridor, a 351-mile coastal rail line
running from San Diego through six Southern California counties to San Luis Obispo.
The subcommittee has brought together state agencies, rail operators and relevant
stakeholders to address emerging and urgent issues along the rail corridor. The
subcommittee’s hearings have created a forum for identifying problems and marshaling
support to fix them.
Senator Catherine Blakespear serves as Committee Chair. The other five members of the
subcommittee are Senators Bob Archuleta, Sabrina Cervantes, Monique Limón, Tony
Strickland, and Thomas Umberg.
Subcommittee Principal Consultant Alex Davis will provide an overview of LOSSAN corridor rail
services, operating conditions, roles and responsibilities of key partners, and will address the
corridor’s key challenges and opportunities.
