Receive an overview of the library’s Collections & Technical Services.
Executive Summary
Senior Librarians Katy Duperry and Jacqui Petri will share an overview of the work Collections &
Technical services does to support the Library & Cultural Arts Department.
Explanation & Analysis
The Collections & Technical Services staff oversee all work pertaining to the library’s physical
and electronic collections. Responsibilities include budget allocations, selecting new materials,
processing and cataloging items so they are findable, and maintaining and deselecting of
materials as needed. Also included, the management of the Request for Reconsideration
process, which allows community members to formally express concerns about specific items in
the library.

Environmental Evaluation
The proposed action is not a “project” as defined by CEQA Section 21065 and CEQA Guidelines
Section 15378(b)(5) and does not require environment review under CEQA Guidelines Section
15060(c)(3) and 15061(b)(3), because the proposed action to report on the department’s

does not involve any commitment to any specific project which may result in a potentially
significant physical impact on the environment. Any subsequent action or direction stemming
