O. l /1500; I 00 1mm hose demand w/ duration of 30 min.
1. Sprinkler protection to extend 15'-0" beyond storage
area if no barrier or partition separating storage from
adjacent occupancy.
2. Where fireproofing of building columns is not provided
and storage heights are in excess of 15 ft, protection of

• Required for high-piled storage of Class IV
Commodities area> 12,000 ff.
• Carlsbad Fire Department requires smoke and heat vents
for all high-piled storage occupancies.
■ Vents required at ratio of 1 ff vent area to 100 tt2 of
storage. Based on 25,098 ft2, 251 ff [ eight vents, 4 'x8'
each] of vent is required.
There are currently 23 existing skylights over the storage
area [plus 15' beyond]. Therefore eight skylights need to be
converted to smoke and heat vents.
