Per initial review of the proposed BREG wall sign, the ARC provided direction via email on February 11, 2026 requiring modifications based on prior approved installation methods, specifically, requiring the sign to be mounted on a raceway with brackets extending over the parapet, rather than adhered directly to the glass, to protect the building’s integrity and avoid potential glass damage. Additionally, on March 4, 2026, the ARC received via email a detailed reconsideration request from you Ms. Walls, outlining industry standards and the practical and aesthetic reasons for your preferred installation method, thus the ARC conducted a second review. The committee considered the applicant’s concerns regarding roof penetrations, structural complications, and overall costs, as well as assurances that replacement glass was available. Despite this reconsideration and thoughtful discussion, the ARC ultimately reaffirmed its original position. The ARC received revised sign plans, dated April 20, 2026, showing that the proposed BREG wall sign would be installed via the required installation method as identified by the ARC. The updated plans comply with the CRC Design Guidelines and ARC requirements and therefore are considered APPROVED as submitted. You may proceed with the construction and installation of your sign once a sign permit is obtained from the City of Carlsbad.
