Receive a report from Community Arts Grant recipient, La Jolla Playhouse.
Executive Summary
La Jolla Playhouse will provide a status update on the use of funds from the Fiscal Year 2025-26
Community Arts Grant. The update is being presented by La Jolla Playhouse Grant Specialist,
Dylan Gervais and Deputy Director of Philanthropy Becky Goodman. This item supports the Arts
Commission Work Plan Fiscal Year 2025-26 goal “participate in the Community Arts Grant
process.”
Explanation & Analysis
La Jolla Playhouse has received Community Arts Grants for fiscal years 2024–2025 and 2025–
2026, under the Arts Projects for Arts Organization category. La Jolla Playhouse received
support for the Performance Outreach Program better known as POP. The program combines
performances with curriculum supplements, educator resources, pre-show workshops, and
post-show discussions to foster creative problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and
empathy among students.

Environmental Evaluation
The proposed action is not a “project” as defined by CEQA Section 21065 and CEQA Guidelines
Section 15378(b)(5) and does not require environment review under CEQA Guidelines Section
15060(c)(3) and 15061(b)(3), because the proposed action to report on Community Arts Grants
recipient report from La Jolla Playhouse is an organizational or administrative government
activity that does not involve any commitment to any specific project which may result in a
potentially significant physical impact on the environment. Any subsequent action or direction
stemming from the proposed action may require preparation of an environmental document in
accordance with CEQA or CEQA Guidelines.
