Plated steel back Single gang mounting Corrosion resistant construction latching alarm lever 18 AWG contact leads Key locked reset • Optional break glass rod Description The Radionics D462 Addressable Manual Fire Alarm Box is a UL listed Initiating device. II can be used with the DB 124 Addressable 24 VDC Fire Control Communicator. An attached Radionics D8127 POPIT (Point of Protection Input Transponder) Module connects to the fire panel's data expansion loops. Switches on the POPIT address it to a zone of the D8124. The D8127 POPITfits easily into a single gang switch box along with the data expansion loop wiring from the control panel. The D462 is a die cast device constructed entirely of non-toxic materials with a low profile, and rounded edges to fit most design applications. All metallic components are prepainted or plated to inhibit corrosion. The D467 is in conformance with the standards set forth in the Americans with Disabilities Act. Application The D462 Addressable Manual Fire Alarm Box is an accessory device for the D8124 fire control panel. The D462 connects to a 2-wire data expansion loop from the control panel allowing programmable Identification by device. Schools, factories, offices and healthcare facilities are typical applications. The D462 Manual Fire Alarm Bo_x _provides a means for persons evacuating a building to mrtrate an alarm and alert others still inside. The point ID addressing directs responding agencies to alarm or trouble conditions. The D462 is designed to incorporate easily into existing D8124 ZONEX systems or to make initial installations more economical. Installation The Radionics D462 can be installed along with other fire initiating devices on a D8124 control/ communicator data expansion loop. Two 6" long, 18 AWG leads extend from the manual fire alarm box and are connected to the sensor loop terminals oft he D8127 POPIT Module. A factory installed 33k n End Of Line resistor across the manual fire alarm box contacts provide sensor loop supervision. Slide switches on the POPIT address ii to a zone on the D8124. This addressing is set as the devices are installed. The addressed POPIT is then connected to a 2- wire data expansion loop. The D462 Manual Fire Alarm Box mounts to a standard flush or surface mounted single gang switch box or plaster ring. Slotted mounting holes allow for correct positioning during installation. Install each manual fire alarm box according to state and local codes and the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction. C 1994 Radionics, Inc. Wiring Information Operational Data The 0462 has a while pull down lever in its center. Pulling down the lever latches it into place. This causes a short across the normally open contact, initiating an alarm on the POPIT sensor loop. The pull down lever can not be reset unless the correct key is inserted into the lock and the unit is opened. The latching lever can then be restored to its normal position. When the 0462 is being reset and has a glass break rod installed, all debris must be removed prior to installing another rod to ensure the unit will close and lock securely. Specifications The contractor shall furnish and Install the Radionics 0462 Addressable Manual Fire Alarm Box where indicated on the plans. All manual fire alarm boxes shall be UL listed and shall have single pole, single throw normally open contacts connected to a factory installed 08127 POPIT Module. The units shall be suitable for use with the Radionics Fire Control Communicator. The 0462 shall be constructed of non toxic, die cast materials with slotted mounting holes for correct positioning during installation. For applications requiring double-action activation of the manual fire alarm box , a 0463 Double-Action Cover shall be installed on the 0461. Date Issued: A uthorized By: APRIL 17, 2001 BEN HQ Supervising Deputy Program Manager Listing Expires June 30, 2002 A Family of Multi-Candela Appliances• Description Wheelock's patented 2-wire Series AS Audible Strobe Appliances and Series AH Audibles offer more features with less current draw and Zero Inrush. Strobe options for wall mount models include 15/75cd or Wheelock's patent pending Multi-Candela strobe with field selectable candela settings of: 15, 30, 75 or 11 0cd. Ceiling mount models are available in 15, 30, 75 or 1 00cd intensities. The audible provides a selectable choice of either a continuous horn or temporal pattern (Code 3) when constant voltage from a Fire Alarm Panel (FACP) is applied. Each tone has 3 dBA settings to choose from. Additionally, the audible may be silenced while maintaining strobe activation on combination Series AS units. All models may be synchronized when used in conjunction with the Wheelock SM, DSM Sync Modules or the PS-12/24-8 Power Supply with Wheelock's Patented Sync Protocol. Synchronization of the continuous horn tone provides the temporal (Code 3) tone as mandated by NFPA-72 (1999) for all audible appliances. This ensures a distinct temporal (Code 3) pattern when 2 or more audibles are within hearing distance. If not synchronized, the temporal sound may overlap and not be distinctive. At the same time, the strobes will also be synchronized. This provides the ability to comply with ADA recommendations concerning photosensitive epilepsy and NFPA standards when installing two or more visual appliances within the field of view. All of this, plus the ability to silence the audible is achieved by using only 2 WIRES. Copyrlflht 2000 Wheelock Inc. All tights reserved.
