SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO PARK A RECREATIONAL
VEHICLE IN THE FRONT YARD SETBACK AT 7175 ALICANTE ROAD
The Planning Director has completed a review of your request to park a recreational
vehicle in your front yard setback, pursuant to section 21.44:060 of the Carlsbad
Municipal Code. After careful consideration of the circumstances surrounding this
request, the Planning Director has determined that the findings required for allowing the
parking of a recreational vehicle in the front yard setback can be made and therefore
APPROVES this request based on the following findings.
Findinqs:
1. That parking in or access to the side yard would require structural alteration to
the existing residence or would require the removal of significant or unique
landscaping in that the west side yard is inaccessible due to an existing steep
slope and the east north side yard is not wide enough to allow vehicle passage.
2. That allowing the recreational vehicle in the front yard setback will not interfere
with traffic on the street or sidewalk or encroach into the street and utility right of,
way or interfere with visibility to or from any street in that the recreational vehicle
will be parked as far behind the property line as possible and will be substantially
screened behind an existing retaining wall and landscaping.
