legal interest in the property.)
• Fee (See current fee schedule for cost)
• Detailed written description of the proposed revision(s)
• Two (2) sets of your site plan folded to 8 % x 11
• Revised site plans and/or elevations and floor plans
• Exhibits/plans/tables, which provide a comparable analysis of the existing project and
proposed revised project
WHEN and WHERE to submit:
Your application may be submitted at the Planning Division counter at 1635 Faraday Avenue,
from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday or 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
HOW your application is processed:
After a submittal is made, the project planner and project engineer will be assigned the project.
Written responses to your submittal will be mailed following the Planning and Land
Development Engineering review (and other divisions/departments as applicable) and should be
received by you within thirty days after the review date. Please keep in mind that additional
information may be requested in order to make a consistency determination and project issues
of concern.
Upon approval of a Consistency Determination, the City Planner will request the project
applicant to submit two (2) blueline copies (24"x36") of all Consistency Determination exhibits to
be stamped "Consistency Determination." Also, you may need to provide the City with a
reproducible 24"x36" mylar copy of an amended Site Plan which must be stamped "Consistency
Determination" to obtain the City Planner's signature.

The City Planner has completed a review of your application for a Consistency Determination, (APN: 208-010-38
& 42) for Fire Station No. 3, located at Trailblazer Way. The proposed modifications include the following:
• Change the color of the steel perimeter fence and gate, from black to red, to match the architectural
elements and brick material of the structures.
• Install solar photo-voltaic panels on top of two proposed car shade structures, located in the rear parking
Jot.
In order for a Discretionary Permit Consistency Determination ta be approved, all of the fallowing findings must
be made:
1) Na project condition, feature, facility ar amenity is changed ar deleted that had been considered essential ta
the project's design, quality, safety ar function.
2} The request represents an upgrade in avera// design features and or materials and improves upon the
project's compatibility with the surrounding neighborhood.
3} The proposed revision does nat change the density or boundary afthe subject property.
4} The proposed revision does nat involve the addition of a new land use nat shown an the original permit.
5} The proposed revision does not rearrange the major land uses within the development.
6) The proposed revision does nat create changes af greater than ten percent provided that compliance will be
maintained with the applicable development standards of the Carlsbad Municipal Code.
7} The proposed change will not result in any significant environmental impact, and/or require additional
mitigation.
8} The proposed change would nat result in any health, safety ar welfare impacts.
9} There were nat any major issues ar controversies associated with the original project which would be
exacerbated with the proposed change.
10} The proposed change would not be readily discernable to the decision makers as being substantially different
from the project os originally approved.
After careful consideration of the circumstances surrounding this request, the City Planner has determined that
the application qualifies for a consistency determination with the approved permit and therefore, approves the
changes to the project based on Planning Division Administrative Policy No. 35.
