MINOR COASTAL DEVELOPMENT PERMITICDP 98-03 - DECISION LETTER
In accordance with Section 21.201.080 of the City’s Zoning Ordinance, which regulates
the processing of Minor Coastal Permits, the Planning Department is prepared to take
action on permit number CDP 98-03.
Project Descriotion:
Construction of an approximately 150 foot long and IO foot wide left turn lane on
northbound Carlsbad Boulevard at the intersection of Poinsettia Lane to allow U-turns
at the existing intersection.
Project Processing:
Submittal date: January 7, 1998
Complete date: January 8,1998
Notice period: January 15 - February 5, 1998
Decision date: March 9, 1998
The Planning Director hereby APPROVES CDP 98-03 based on the findings and
subject to the conditions listed below:
Findinqs:
1. The project is consistent with the Local Coastal Program which designates the
subject site for transportation land uses. The proposed U-turn lane will not
impact coastal resources.
2. No coastal access or recreation impacts are associated with the proposed
improvements to the existing intersection.
3. The projects cost of development has been determined to be less than $60,000
4. No other discretionary entitlements are required for this project.

Conditions:
1. The Planning Director does hereby APPROVE the Minor Coastal Permit, CDP
98-03 for the roadway intersection improvement project entitled “Carlsbad
Boulevard U-turn Lane at Poinsettia Lane”. (Exhibit “A”, dated March 9,
1998, on file in the Planning Department and incorporated by this reference,
subject to the conditions herein set forth. Staff is authorized and directed to
make, or require the Applicant to make, all corrections and modifications to the
Minor Coastal Permit documents, as necessary to make them internally
consistent and in conformity with the final action on the project. The
development shall occur substantially as shown on the approved Exhibits. Any
proposed development substantially different from this approval, shall require an
amendment to this approval.
2. The effective date for this permit shall be after City and Coastal
Commission appeal periods have been exercised.
