The changing of these areas zones form R1-15000 to R2-10000, and/or allowing additional units to be built on the lots, is not a reasonable nor acceptable resolution. I am in total agreement with the Griswolds and their petition. If we allow one exception others will naturally follow. There is no way these second units can be viewed as exclusively Jar relatives. We have always been permitted to build 'Granny1 flats without kitchens to house elderly parents etc. A second units on this exclusively zoned property is obviously to permit rentals to low income families. As time posses and rents increase the units will become upper scale rentals. The neighborhood con ill afford the additional population considering the condition of the streets. We have narrow streets, no curbs, no sidewalks, very low water pressure and improper drainage. Rather than changing zones and adding units the City should correct the existing problems which endanger pedestrians who walk to and from their churches and children going to ond from their schools. The beach areas are much more suited to additional housing ond units. I feel this change in zoning would threaten the peace ond security of our homes ond disturb what has been, until now, a safe ond pleasant area to live. If you must erect additional rental units consider Lo Costa which has far more undeveloped areas and lots which, os of now, remain bare. We ore entitled to the some consideration as that part of Corlsbod, perhops even more, since we are an older and more settled community. A great deal of money has been expended to up grade the neighborhood. The City should appreciate these efforts on the part of tax paying properly owners and try to maintain the integrity of the estates some of which afford priceless grounds and ocean views. To destroy these is to destroy much of what makes Carlsbad one of the most desirable communities in which to live. My property abuts parcel 207-061-07. It would surly destroy my privacy, the Pocards home sites os well os the views of the surrounding properties on Monroe Street if these permits were to be permitted. Perhops the R1-10000 zoning around the corner on Pork would be in keeping with the properties on that street but the land on Monroe Street should be maintained os R1-15000. Yours truly,
