RE: RECREATION CENTER FOR VILLAGE L-l (THE CLIFFS CT97-04)
Chris,
The following letter is to confirm that it is acceptable to staff to change the half-basketball court
in the common recreation area to a grass volleyball court. Heritage Home Builders believes this
change would be an improvement to the project and be more compatible with the resident's
needs and desires.
Accompanying this letter are exhibits which show how the previously approved half-basketball
court could be replaced with a grass volleyball court. I have already contacted Larry Black to
inform him of the change. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if I have
misquoted our understanding.

Dear Chris:
This letter serves to confirm your receipt of the CC&Rs referenced above on September
14, 1998. After your review of these CC&Rs, in early October, you verified with me that
the CC&Rs included all of the provisions specified in the conditions of approval for this
project. Based on this conversation and another conversation yesterday at the
Planning counter, it is my understanding that condition 1 1 of Planning Commission
Resolution No. 4181 has been satisfied.

Message: Please see the accompanying Trellis and Patio Cover Requirements exhibit
for The Cliffs at Calavera Hills, Village L-1. Similar exhibits detailing guidelines for
trellises and patio covers have been prepared for Poinsettia Shores and several other
projects in the City of Carlsbad. The applicant has reviewed and approved the
guidelines provided herein.
Because the majority of the buildings can accommodate trellises or patio covers in
several configurations, this exhibit was developed to assist future property owners to
understand what options might be available to them. Several units will be unable to
accommodate trellises or patio covers, such as building 34.
Please review this exhibit and retain it for the City's files and future access by property
owners. Please contact me if you have any questions.
