RH: Standard Pacific Application/Thompson Project
D sar Members of the City Council Of Carlsbad:
I vant to bring the following concerns I have to light regarding the Standard Pacific
application:
1) The opening of Alyssum to a new development will destroy the geographical
integrity of a long established community of Vista Pacifica.
2) If Alyssum is opened up the traffic congestion will affect Snapdragon and Ivy.
3) The Poinsettia/Snapdragon intersection will become even more dangerous. At this
time it is already a blind intersection. Increasing the traffic in that area will bring
about undue delays especially when the children are talked to the local schools.
This is an accident to happen and if the City allows this I feel they will have to
cany the burden of making the wrong decision. The city I feel should be
accountable for the wrong doing if the accident rate increases.
4) The RV storage that was changed to its current site will bring down the
appearance of that street and will bring vandalism and theft. It only encourages
young people to cause mischief.
5) Attached housing adjacent to us to provide low-income housing will dramatically
change the whole character of our residential area. This is also bringing in people
who do not care about our community.
6) 1 feel that these changes will horribly change the property values of the Vista
Pacifica Development.
I believe that development companies have the right to build but to do this in a cold
uncalculating manor that will affect hundreds of homes. If they made some changes such
As making another entrance/exit to the project and NOT opening up Alyssum would be a
good community gesture. If Alyssum is opened Vista Pacifica might have to look at sped
bumps on Snapdragon and Ivy.
All 1 can ask the City Council of Carlsbad is to look at all the alternatives. It is not worth
a neighborhood conflict that would last at least a decade.
