RE: RECENT CHANGES TO THE ACOUSTICAL STUDIES
STANDARD PACIFIC POINSETTIA PROPERTY - CARLSBAD CA
Dear Ms. Baker:
The purpose of this letter is to quantify the recent changes to the acoustical
studies for the Thompson/Tabata TPM development by Standard Pacific Homes. These
changes reflect the latest engineering considerations consisting of pad elevation (slope)
changes and updates to the project area traffic generation rates.
Based upon the latest City approved traffic numbers provided by LLG Engineers
(dated 2002), traffic volumes along Aviara Parkway increased by 3,000 ADT, while the
volume along Poinsettia Lane decreased by approximately 10,000 trips per day. This
change equated to a noise increase along Aviara Parkway from 70.7 to 71.3 dBA at 50
feet from the roadway centerline. Levels along Poinsettia Lane were found to decrease
from 73.5 to 72.0 dBA at 50 feet from the centerline.
These traffic changes, along with the aforementioned slope edge changes
equated to an overall beneficial noise condition within the project site resulting in a
reduction/elimination of some of the project noise walls. In addition, a reduction of the
structural STC requirements for the proposed residential units was also obtained.
