Nicholas Planning Department City of Carlsbad 1200 Elm Avenue Carl sbad , Cal i forni a 92008 RE: McRoskey--Carlsbad Pal omar Airport Business Park Carlsbad, California Dear Ms. Nicholas: Thank you for arranging the meeting on December 2, 1980 with the City Engineer and your Consulting Traffic Engineer. Mr. McRoskey and I agree that the suggested driveway changes on Yarrow Drive are a better implementation of the overall master plan of the site and, therefore, have made the changes on the drawings which are being resubmitted with this letter. We are not in agreement with your staff recommendations that suggest the closing and relinquishment of an existing driveway that is currently approved and constructed on' the property. The driveway is adjircent to a recently constructed driveway for the property to the east. create a conflict in automobile movements by being so close to each other. The new driveway and our driveway, for right turns only, It has always been an accepted standard for the benefit of good traffic movement that driveways onto streets from private property be separated by a distance in order to clarify the turning movements to the motorist. Therefore, we suggest that our currently approved and constructed driveway on Palomar Airport Road be moved westerly a distance of approximately eighty-five feet (85') in order to create a safer access to our site. Secondly, this action to relocate the driveway westerly be accompanied by the proper legal language necessary to relocate the "abutter rilghts relinquished" to close the existing driveway and provide legal access at the suggested new location. Thank you for arranging the meeting and we look forward to working with you and the staff on this project. cc: Mr. Jack McRoskey Approved: John W. McRoskey 2160-A AVENIDA DE LA PLAYA, LA JOLLA.
