SUBJECT: CUP 224(A)x2 - JC DELI
Although an active Conditional Use Permit (CUP) is required for delis in the industrial
zone, a recent audit of our records indicates that an application for CUP 224(A)x2 was
created but never processed and approved. To continue operating the deli, it will be
necessary for you to submit a payment to retroactively extend this CUP from May 20,
1997 through May 19, 2007.
The delicatessen was originally approved in January 1983, and was operating under the
approval of a CUP; however, the most recent approved use permit was granted for a
period ending on May 20, 1997. Staff previously created an application and collected
fees for a retroactive application that would have allowed the deli to operate from May
21, 1997 to May 20, 2002. A separate application is required to renew the CUP from
May 21, 2002 to May 20, 2007.
The CUP requires the property owner to request an extension of this permit. In order to
begin the process, please send the following:
• Written request for the extension;
• Completed Disclosure Statement (enclosed);
• Mailing Labels (instructions enclosed) and associated fees; and
• A check for the Conditional Use Permit extension in the amount of $685.
Send the required documents to:

I have received an application for extension of a CUP for JC Deli located at 2382-A Camino Vida Robles.
They have been in their present tenant space since approximately 1983 under continuous CUP
extensions. What, if any, new or revised requirement(s) should I apply to their latest request for extension
as a result of new NPDES requirements?

COMPLETENESS REVIEW
PROJECT ID: CUP 226BX1 DELI WISHES
The Engineering Department has completed its review of the above referenced project for
application completeness and has determined that the application and plans submitted for this
project are complete and suitable for continued review. Engineering staff does not have any
comments to add to the project. Please add the following conditions to the approving
resolution/letter:
1. All operators and owners of the Deli(s) shall comply with Order No. 2001-01 of the
California Regional Water Quality Control Board addressing measures to
reduce waste discharge in urban runoff. Each operator and owner shall
develop an employee education and training program for developing proper
measures to reduce waste discharge. As a part of these measures, each
operator of their respective deli(s) shall train employees to:
a. Pick-up and dispose daily all on-site trash;
b. Sweep all dirt and debris rather than wash from walkways and driveways.
Swept dirt and debris shall be disposed of in the trash. If any washing is
to occur, then direct washing of walkways or driveways to lawn areas to
minimize runoff into the City streets and storm drains.
c. Clean floor mats, exhaust filters, etc. within the building with discharge to a
grease trap to sanitary sewer. Any outside cleaning must occur within a
container or bermed area with discharge to a sanitary sewer.
If you or the applicant has any questions regarding the above, please either see or call me at
