EXCERPT OF MINUTES FROM PLANNtNG COMMISSION MEETtNC
HELD JUNE 10, 1969 (Item-- Old Business]:
Subject: Planning Commission Resolution No. 580,
Granting Conditional Use Permit to Allow
Construction and use of a U.S. Post Office
Building and parking facilities - located
Northerly of Grand Ave, between Roosevel t
Street and Madison Street - said Resolution
adopted at meeting held November 12, 1968.
The Chairman introduced a motion regarding the orientation of
the post office building and asked the Planning Director to
clarify this need for the Commission. It was explained the
granting of original Conditional Use Permit for this building
did not clearly control the location of the bullding and the
public parking space. Further, the engineering firm for the
post office building now proposes to shift the parking facilities
180 degrees as opposed to what was shown on the Exhibit A which
was introduced for original Conditional Use Permit, and which
was acted upon.
The Planning Director presented subject Exhibit A and showed
how the building location and public parking would be affected
by these changes as proposed by the engineering firm. He also
read the reasons and conditions for granting the original permit,
as contained in Resolution No. 580.
Following this background of the original permit and the explanation
for this present motion, it was agreed by the Commission they had
indeed acted on this application, with Exhibit A an integral part of
the application as originally presented, and it should be complied
with, as shown.
The motion was made that the orientation of the proposed post office
building remain fixed, as designated on Exhibit A of Conditional Use
Permit, Resolution No. 580, and that the intent of said resolution
include the relationship of the public entrance and loading areas to
the respective streets, as per Exhibit A.
