The proposed project is a prefabricated fiberglass recreational
sled run, to be located adjacent to the skateboard facility at the
Carlsbad Raceway property. The sled run is to follow the contour
and slope of an existing hillside, and will accomodate small wooden
and plastic sleds. Minimal grading is proposed other than needed
to clear the run area of vegetation. The natural growth is of the
common weed variety. Some trees are located at the base of the
slope which may be affected by the project.
Completion of the project will tend to intensify the use of an
established private recreational park. Parking and other support
facilities are currently being constructed under previous city
approvals. The sled run should complement the other youth oriented
features of the park, and provide a centralized facility for related
recreational activities.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended a Declaration of Negative (Non-significant) Environ-
mental Effect be made regarding this project.
JUSTIFICATION
1. The grading to be done is minimal.
2. No significant vegetation or wildlife should be effected by the
project.
3. The project will complement an already utilized facility devoted
to youth recreational activities.
