MAJOR GENERAL WILLIAM ARTHUR WORTON

(RETIRED)
JONATHAN CLUB
545 So. Figueroa Street
Los Angeles 17, California
and/or P.O. Box 554, 1212 Oak Avenue

January 4, 1962
The Honorable Members,
The City Planning Commission,
City of Carlsbad, California
2960 Pio Pico,
Carlsbad, California.
Gentlemen!
•
1. This '{>till acknowledge receipt of your "Notice of Public
Hearing to amend the Master Street Plan of the City of Carlsbad,"
"Published, December 28, 1961".
2. I own as joint tenant with my wife, Nellie W. Worton,
property at 1212 Oak Avenue, with a 200 foot frontage.
3. It is impossible to be present at your meeting at 7=30 p.m.,
January 9, 1962; will you therefore please accept this letter as
a request from this tax-payer to not, repeat, ~ amend the
present Master Street Plan.
4. Information aVa,ilable indicates a plan to create a cul-de-
sac at a point about 300 to 400 feet eastward from my property
on Oak Avenue; this obviously will give that portion of Oak
Avenue east of the Freeway one outlet, namely Pio Pico: such a
change would, in my opinion, cause fUrther depreCiation of
residential propertl on Oak Avenue; for it is reasonable to
assume a one-outlet street could create additional dirty and
unsightly areas due to automobile wrecked cars being repaired
and cannibalized; this, together with automobile storage;all of
which has been apparent on the south side of Oak Avenue for at
least the past year with a result~t dep~eciat1~~ of the sale
value of my residential property in this residential area.
5. I will appreciate your recording this protest.
·I am;
gentlemen,
Res$.'/~.
W. A. Worton Major General, United States Marine Corps (Retired)
