Dear Tom:
As you are aware, Gallegos & Associates conducted a cultural resource report in November
of 1996 for the Cade Property (HDP %-lo). The purpose of this study (Archaeological
Survey and Test for the Cade Property, Carlsbad, California) was to conduct a field survey
and to evaluate prehistoric site (CA-SDI-14335). The field survey and test were conducted for approximately 3.66 acres adjacent and southwest of the structure (4529 Adams, Lot 9 of Map 2952). Given the limited amount of artifacts, site CA-SDI-14335 was identified as
not significant, and no further work was recommended. In the course of this study, the parcel with the structure was visited and two STPs (27N/30E and 3ON/OE) were excavated
(see attached Figure 4- 1). STP 27N/30E was excavated to 40 cm and produced 1
hammerstone, 1 debitage, 1 groundstone fragment, and 32.7 gms of shell. STP 30NIOE
was excavated to 60 cm and produced one debitage and 34.5 gms of shell. The structure
(4529 Adams, Lot 9 of Map 2952) to the northeast of the site was not evaluated, as this
was not part of the project. Please. call should you need additional information.
