RE: LOCAL COASTAL PROGRAM AMENDMENT 1-98
Dear Ms. Lee and Mr. Ponder:
Thank you for your letter of March 19, 1998, concerning the referenced LCPA. It is our understanding
that all of the items requested in your letter have been provided and the application should be found
complete.
The amendments comprising this application may be subdivided into three separate and unrelated parts.
It is the City’s belief that none of the three raises issues of consistency with the Coastal Act. However, if
you believe to the contrary, the City requests that you segregate the non-problematic part(s) from any
which might raise a coastal issue (e.g., 1-98-A, 1-98-B, etc.) for purposes of moving forward
expeditiously on the former rather than holding the entire amendment for hearing at the end of the 90-
day review period in order to have adequate time to prepare your report for the latter.
It is our understanding that this request may be granted within the framework of one LCPA application.
In other words, it would not result in the consumption of any of the remaining two opportunities in 1998
to submit amendment applications to the California Coastal Commission for consideration. Your prompt
attention to this request is most appreciated. Please call with any questions.
Sincerely,
CITY OF CARLSBAD *
