Dear Ms. Fulford:
This letter is in response to your April 27 correspondence concerning item 1 - loading
dock / trash container. For your information, we would like to clarify the specific
use of the loading dock located off the service drive at the north side of the
building. The new McMahan Office Headquarters Building will not be a facility which
directly produces and builds furniture. This building will function as an
administrative headquarters with very minimal traffic occurring at the loading dock.
The office functions which now occur at the present building on State Street will
transfer to this new site. Other than non scheduled appointments, there are only two
delivery agencies which will use the service drive regularly. The mail service will
deliver to the building every day, along with an ''in house courier" standard pick up
truck delivering paperwork from other McMahan stores. Furthermore, the schedule of
each vehicle is at different times and each will only be parked for a very short
period of time. The trash pick-up service will occur at different times and should
not conflict with the delivering traffic.
We feel that incorporating a larger service drive is unnecessary and would eliminate
pleasant landscaping surface which are screening service areas. After clarifying this
issue, we would request that the City Planning Department reevaluate the need for
modification of the service drive. Thank you for your consideration. If you have any
